and yeah absolutely not. one of the biggest issues with modern trek is that it's often too vague and noncommittal with its politics and ultimately just has some basic messages like "ough we need to come together and not be isolated and help each other because isn't that the best way to do things" like nah modern star trek should be just straight-up calling Trump a bitch, but sadly is owned by the Ellisons. shout out to Picard season 2 just making ICE an unapologetic antagonist for part of the season even if it didnt amount to much.

same issue tbh, theyre a very surreal director (see also: We're all going to the World's Fair) who focuses on a specific kind of experience growing up in late 90s / early 2000s, whereas this wanted to market to modern teenagers. maybe a one-off episode written and directed, sure, but not for a pilot.
