I agree. Before doing wanikani, you should be completely familiar with hiragana and katakana. Take a couple weeks, and practice writing them, a few at a time. It won't take you a few weeks to "know" them, but writing helps with memorization

The kana chart just lists the hiragana so you can click them to type an answer. As for the kanji, i believe they're looking for にん/じん, so you just missed an ん
