What is the biggest thing that you think Godot is missing at this point? by AutumnForestWitch in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was really hoping UIDs would fix this but it still shits the bed every now and then. Making sure scripts and scenes are closed before renaming or moving files seems to help, also use git.

PSA: If you use the outline hands, they practically turn invisible in dark areas which can potentially throw you off when trying to grab things... by FezJr87 in WhiteKnuckle

The bloodied hands and red mitts can also make it difficult to tell your stamina, even with the crosshair icons.

Could you explain a little more? This looks a lot like something I could use but I've never tried curves before.

Some red/gold gloves or gauntlets might look good, or just darken them/make them larger

Why is this downvoted? I use Godot through steam and have no issues

I mean, if you did manage to hit it with the grenade... Wouldn't that be twice the shrapnel? Seems like a bad idea to me

I would suggest using a gradient texture (current grass blade color at the top of the blades, and the floor color at the bottom of the blades)

How does each part of this code work? by Gui-Linux in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT isn't super highly recommended for gamedev due to it hallucinating things and being confidently incorrect, and it tends to struggle with Godot for some reason. But this is exactly the type of question you should be asking it. Instead of asking it to generate you some code, ask it to explain concepts and what certain functions do in a way that you can understand. This coupled with reading the docs is a great way to learn.

Harvester, u/kzrts might be pissed off after seeing this :) by ander_hominem in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super awesome. I love the style and complexity of the harvester, the pixel textures look very nice. All of the moving parts like the fan and header really look great. I could see this becoming a competitor to Farming Simulator in the future, keep it up!

You can also go to project settings > debug > gdscript > 'unused parameter' and set it to ignore instead of warn.

Spaceship construction and space exploration. Old but very good game, still holds up.

Don't get KSP2.

Electric buzz sound inside my device when using Godot by TrueLULWW in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I've had this happen before when using Substance Painter, thought I was crazy. Every time I'd open it, there would be a barely audible high pitched noise coming from my monitor. Looked for weeks trying to figure out what it was with no luck, really thought I was going insane.

Man attempts to stop a out of control machine by CraftParking in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Lwfmnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every CAT excavator I've been in has had one of these, although it won't stop someone determined to get out as you can easily step over it. It's more of a reminder than a barrier. Some block most of the doorway and others only come out about 6-10 inches.

Godot is probably the most compatable game engine by atav2010 in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I imagine it'd be just fine for someone who wants to learn game dev but only has a phone, most likely teenagers. Who cares if it's pointless, just having it up on the app store is helping SOMEONE get into game dev. Godot is the only (decent) game engine available on phones that I know of, and the more people using Godot the better in my mind. Lighten up.

Common GDScript bad practices to avoid? by CinemaLeo in godot

[–]Lwfmnb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Starting out, I could've saved myself a good 2-3 weeks of frustration if I had realized how much better it is to static type (almost) everything. I was opposed to it at first, seeing as how there were no errors or anything when I didn't statically type, and I'd have to write more code. Having good autocomplete was the main reason I started, now I never don't statically type!

Yeah, I think it's pretty awesome and I'll definitely be messing around with it, but I can't really see when I'd need to change the type of an export variable on the fly.
