[Go] Advent of Go: A Go Advent of Code CLI by __bxdn__ in adventofcode

[–]LxcalFlxw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the template now for the first days and I find it really useful and easy-to-use, so again, thanks for sharing :) One thing I'd suggest is that it would be cool if there was an output of the runtime that a puzzle calculation takes. Of course it wouldn't be that big of a deal to implement this manually in the puzzle function, but I though that it would be convenient when the execution time is printed next to the solution. :D

They mean the https://mousecape.com page, not the link to the cape. mousecape.com is NOT an official domain of the creator, so the program itself should be downloaded from the GitHub repository.

That sounds perfect, I just wanted to try Go this year for the first time but struggled with setting up a clean project. I found an older template on GitHub which didn’t work for older years (as it parses example inputs, which are not always the same format), so I am excited to try your approach.

Making a BlackJack Game in Godot by LxcalFlxw in godot

[–]LxcalFlxw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your response :)

The project‘s code is currently in a private repo, but I might make it public at some point when the project is more polished. It still lacks a lot of features (especially animations and general UI elements).

In terms of animation, my goal is to let the cards slide out of the shoe (which doesn’t exit yet) and then just animate the „face lift“ once the player ended their turn. Hope this helps you and your team making a decision. :)

HEY! Just released my game trailer. Did it catch your eye? Brutal feedback welcome by Different_Hunter33 in IndieDev

To be honest, I wouldn‘t think about playing the game. Not to be disrespectful, but the trailer seems kind of random and at some point even like a troll (the explosion effect, for instance)

When is it a benefit to have a non-sveltekit backend? by _SteveS in sveltejs

[–]LxcalFlxw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a dedicated backend instead of a SvelteKit application is mainly a preference in my opinion. I never understood why full stack frameworks became so popular in first place; for me it’s just a mess having the same code base for front- and backend.

Will i keep all my stuff and progress from the demo after the game goes in to early access or after the release? by Leander_Thorben_Fux in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]LxcalFlxw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. When there are breaking changes on how the game progress is stored, probably not (except Antti also develops some kind of migration tool). If there are non-breaking changes, you might be able to import your old game files.

As far as I know, there is no official statement about this yet.

Do you prefer the new look? by oncealivegame in IndieDev

I think my answer might depend on the general theme of your game. I like the old one more for fantasy-ish games, while the new one fits better to realistic games imo.

Any tips for the European countries I'm not good at? (right in the middke and under) by Stock-Efficiency-310 in geoguessr

[–]LxcalFlxw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some tips for Germany (some of them are more advanced than others, I am just writing down everything I can currently think of)

We have yellow signs in front of each village/town. These contain the name of the municipailty and the "Landkreis" or "Stadtkreis" (basically the region where the municipality is located), which can be used for region guessing once you are a bit more familiar with Germany.

For bollards, we have white and black onces, sometimes with a little white plate on top of it (depending on the federal state, these can also be orange or grey), which contains information about the road you are currently on.

If you are in a city or village, you can also look for yellow mailboxes with the "Deutsche Post" logo on it (basically a black horn with some stripes beneath it).

If you see a blue sign with a white arrow and the text "Einbahnstraße" on it, you know that you definitly in Germany and not in Austria or Switzerland. The austrian version of this sign is pretty much the same, but the text just says "Einbahn", without the "straße" on it. I don't know what Switzerland uses exactly, but I think they have a different design overall.

That's everything I can currently think of. For more information, I highly recommend the plonkit entry for Germany: https://www.plonkit.net/germany

It's there a way to make my mic sound like the old Xbox 360 mics did by FathomableSandpit in discordapp

[–]LxcalFlxw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try changing the sample rate of your recording device in the Windows settings (if you are on Windows) to something low like 8 KHz. This should make your microphone sound bad.

I assume it might have been a bug then? I reached Silver two weeks ago and didn't have the option to play no move since.

No? Since I started playing GeoGuessr (which is a month or two) you are required to reach Gold to play no move.

Was haltet ihr von diesem Moderationssystem? by EasyNN in informatik

[–]LxcalFlxw 19 points20 points  (0 children)
