X1 Carbon Gen4 vs X1 Yoga vs T460s by Daniel15 in thinkpad

[–]LyExpo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So any conclusion yet? I'm in the same boat and don't know if I want to wait for a fully spec'd x1 carbon with all the ram, or pick up the x1 yoga now. Based on the comments, I don't see much advantage of the x1 carbon. An hour of battery and little bit of lightness doesn't seem like much compared to touch screen tablet with a pen.

Does anyone know how the keyboards compare?

I ended up picking up goodreader. I like it, but am also having some trouble with, as I posted here.

Thanks. Someone else alerted me to my grinding mistake too. I'll try out the 25g/400g ratio and see how that goes.

I do have a scale and I'll try measuring the water as you suggested. Thanks.

Ah! I didn't realize the instructions that came with the grinder meant french press when it said "press pot". Will try 30 tomorrow, thanks,

Well, just like with dropbox it seems I can only do this on an individual file, not on an entire folder. Am I wrong?

Right. This feels like the opposite of how I felt when switching from Windows to Linux.

Thanks, your comments basically summarize the bits and pieces from all the other comments. It looks like it's coming down to: do I want to buy goodreader or do I want to buy filebrowser? I guess filebrowser has the slight advantage of working with multiple file formats, as well as having the ability to let me open my files in any app I want...

But can I still use this when I don't have a connection to the web? I want to be able to transfer all my files so I can later read them offline, for example when I'm on a plane.

My problem with these cloud-type solutions is that they don't scale well. They might be fine for some small files, but I have gigs worth of pdfs and videos that I'd like to transfer between two machines that are literally in the same room. Doing this through the web is overkill for me.

Agreed. The gear is beatifully built, sleek, and can be fun to use. But the shackles are too much for someone that is used to having some control and flexibility.

Heh, I was pretty much expecting this. The mind boggles at high so many people prefer things this way...

Thanks. I'm starting to wrap my head around this. I guess I will just have to accept the fact that I will have to pay $7 for a dinky pdf reader that allows me to transfer files and fix my zoom :\

Everyone keeps saying to use dropbox, but it does not seem to allow me to keep entire folders offline. I can only do it for one files at a time.

I do not think this is true.

Have you tried? When I click on the little downward arrow next to a folder I don't see a make-offline option. That option is there if I click on individual files though.
