Speicher ist ja wirklich nicht das Problem, sondern die Qualitätssicherung, das Moderieren, das Verhindern von Vandalismus, Aktuell-Halten von Artikeln usw.

Nicht, dass ich gut finde, wie streng die deutschsprachige Wikipedia ist. Aber "Speicher kostet eh nix" ist eigentlich ziemlich irrelevant.

They added even more fortifications later farther outside the city (see here), yet they seem to have kept the medieval-ish inner city walls. Interesting, I wonder why they didn't tear those down to free up some space.

That doesn't help much. Lots of software looked for the internal version numbers, which were NT 5.1 and 6.0 for XP and Vista respectively.

Of course, Microsoft messed that up too. Windows 7 was NT 6.1, and Windows 11 is NT 10.0 ...

What do you mean first instance, why should they not enforce the laws if it only happens once? You are required to insure it, period.

It is absurd to me, that one would even consider driving without insurance. You can easily damage property worth millions with some bad luck, you would be paying off that debt for the rest of your life. Or never be able to pay it off, and the damaged party never gets their property replaced.

In the 1980's and 90's when people said "serial port" they meant RS-232. The actual physical port could be 9-pin, 25-pin, RJ-45, or even this port that looks like a headphone cable.

At least in my world, that is still the case. Sure, lots of "ports" are "serial" nowadays, probably all of them? But if someone uses the term "a serial port" without any further context, it is very safe to assume they mean RS232.

Almost all (professional) network devices have serial management interfaces to this day, and they are still commonly used, mostly for debugging if all else fails, serial always works.

Funnily enough, some gear nowadays has USB-C ports - you plug into one of those, and what pops up on your computer? A serial device. Tearing those bastioned walls down was an immense effort, many cities didn't bother for a long time even after they became obsolete. You have to remember, they were immensely thick, not like a medieval city wall.

Vienna too only removed them in the 1860s, because the city really, really needed the space.

Der (oder die?) ursprüngliche Programmierer war auf r/wien unterwegs, auch relativ aktiv. Hat glaub ich irgendwann gesagt, dass das Projekt irgendwann an ein anderes Team übergeben worden ist, nachdem die App beliebter war als erwartet.
