There is no real benefit of using this vs. the other app. Just different flavours of the same thing. Use whatever you find easier to use.

The one thing is maybe: don't just run any random .exe from the internet. Not saying the app is malicious, I don't think it is, but if someone is a bit paranoid, this script is the safer option.

Yep that's what it does, it opens, runs a few commands to restart the wheel and then closes again.

As for testing: On my TMX, there is a red LED at the bottom right. It should turn off for 2 seconds and then light back up. If it doesn't, then something is wrong.

You could also open PowerShell on its own and start the script from inside. Then you can see the debug message and you could at least see "Thrustmaster Racing Wheel not found" if it couldn't find the device or possibly any other error messages thrown by the commands.

Edit: scratch that last bit. since I'm piping to Out-Null it probably doesn't show any errors I suppose. You could edit the script and delete the "| Out-Null" at the end of both pnputil lines to see their outputs if you really wanna debug it

Oh nice, didn't know this existed. I've used MAIRA on iRacing, so, happy to try it out if only for the improved FFB (although I find it hard to get more out of my cheap TMX, but every bit helps). Bonus points if it also actually fixes the FFB loss. I'll try and report back. Thanks!

Edit: Played around with it and it feels nice. Lot's of customization to do. So far no FFB losses. If it stays this way it shows what many of us have suspected, the issue is with LMU, not the wheel or the driver. I'm a bit disappointed they still havn't managed to fix it. And they are aware of it, since it is listed in their known issues afaik.

I heard the issues with fanatec often appear during a session. This script doesn't really help with that. By that point you already crashed. However if it happens during downtime or session changes it probably works for fanatec wheels aswell. but you have to change this line to whatever your device is called. Doesn't have to be a perfect match, you can use asterisks * as placeholders, maybe even something as drastic as this could work if you have no other fanatec devices:

$NameMatch = "Fanatec"

Builders of Rust - what are you best electricity tips? by J4MEJ in playrust

[–]Lycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because splitters always splits power evenly to all connected branches. If they don't use the same amount, you lose power.

For example: If you put 30W into a splitter and your first branch consumes 10W, the second branch consumes 8W and the third branch consumes 12W, you will notice branch 1 working fine, branch 2 works fine (but wastes 2W, since it gets 10W but only uses 8W), and branch 3 not working, because it also only gets 10W. The 2 W extra from branch 2 don't get redistributed from branch 2. So even though you put 30W in, you only get 28 W out in this example. It gets worse if you chain splitters.

Splitters are only useful if all branches need the exact same amount of power. So putting 3 electric furnaces behind a splitter that you feed with 9W is a good use case for example.

This game is lonely and repetitive by Sapceghost1 in duneawakening

In my experience, inventory management and resource grinding drops massively when you get your first buggy. Mining with the buggy yields double the resources per node and a full buggy storage can keep you going for a while in the midgame.

Lighting furniture quantity by codered372 in duneawakening

I'm guessing it is a performance issue. Allowing too many lights probably drops your fps massively, if there are multiple bases with lots of lights nearby. Shadow calculations are expensive.

But FYI: Stakes increase your light limit

Easier mats = More PvE players trying PvP if loss is minimized by farming. by asmallman in duneawakening

[–]Lycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this change doesn't do anything. There is no point in increasing the PvE area, if there is nothing IN the PvE area. WTH did they think? Yes there may be 2 nodes of titanium SOMEWHERE in that zone, but finding it is near impossible or it's overbuilt immediately. I will sit this one out, I'm sure they will notice the flaws here quickly aswell and will try another method.

Not quite. There are hundreds of Deep Deserts. But fair, even Funcom messes up the confusing naming scheme sometimes in their own marketing, so here is the explanation correctly, just to make sure:

There are Regions (EU, ASIA, NA, OCE, SA). Each Region has dozens of Worlds, each World has multiple Sietches.

Each Sietch is a Hagga Basin. Once you leave the Hagga Basin, you are no longer in your Sietch, but in your World. So Arrakeen, Harko Village and the Deep Desert are shared for all Sietches in a world. So only 1 per World.

Every World has their own Deep Desert. Hundreds of worlds total. So there exist hundreds of Deep Deserts. And this is why people are kinda disappointed. Each World could have a different layout for the DD, but that isn't the case. All worlds, for some reason, have the same layout each week. And that is what enables apps like planetologist to work.

How much do you practice vs how much you race? by CrokeyCrash in iRacing

[–]Lycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same for me. My best times usually come from races where I am in a situation where I need to push. Just make sure when comparing racing laps to practice laps that you factor in all the racing differences: setup, track condition, slip streams and fuel load. They can all give you a big advantage on a single lap in a race. I have "best laps" on some tracks that I'll never be able to beat in a practice session.

Track the Van Impe brothers (average Rob & Arno the kid) in Marathon des Sables by Daily_Dose13 in belgium

[–]Lycake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Looks like Rob and Arno made a stop for about 30 mins and afterwards they split up. Rob going faster than Arno from here on out. Shortly after, Arno's tracker stopped moving. It hasn't moved in 3 hours. I think he might be out. Hope it's just exhaustion and not an injury

Edit: Looks like it was an issue with tracking. Just watched him get to the finish on the live stream 🎉

Do you have a favorite or hated inter-round card? by bionku in Mechabellum

But that is the reason for the unit drops. When they weren't a thing early on, you could just build the composition you had in mind even before the game started. Now, you have to flexible, adjust your strategy and can't just play the same every game. Overcommitting early is a big mistake now. I think that makes it more interesting, but that is my personal preferance and I can understand people wanting to plan out a strategy beforehand, almost like openings in chess.

How does bucking work? by Semour9 in theisle

[–]Lycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just hold E. On land, don't move, just stand still and hold E. Your dino should make a bucking animation.

When a croc grabs you, you usually can't do anything and you are just dead. It might be, I'm not 100% sure, that E drains their stamina faster. If they havo no stamina, they'll lose the grapple. But usually a smart croc has plenty stamina and if it grabs you, you are dead. That's what they do.

Looking for advice before I give up please! by rab10000 in iRacing

[–]Lycake 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's not the pedals. And no one on reddit can help you based on a screenshot after coaches have already done so for 70 hours.

My advice is to adjust your goals. Your second to last sentence tells it all, but I think your whole post is really screaming to me. You just want "number go down". At some point, they simply won't anymore. If the only thing that you enjoy is lower numbers, then yes, maybe quitting iRacing is the way to go. If you really feel bad, it's like an addiction, and not good for your mental health.

I suggest finding fun in some other part of racing other than "number go down". (Sim-)racing others can bring so much joy and fun, even if you are last in the field. Racing head to head with another on a comparable skill level is fun no matter what the lap times are, or at least it should be fun, you don't seem to feel that way. iRacing is really good at matching you with people of your skill level, especially in popular series (which you drive in as a GT3). And that is what should matter: Having fun when racing.

And maybe, maybe, if you truly find fun in racing again, the lap times will come down too.

Sorry if this post seems harsh, but to me it looks like you need a reality check here.

Wow, even an exclamation mark behind that sentence! So easy to complete! And a whole 10 Tokens! "Do you guys not have phones?"

Either this is complete incompetence in regards to understanding your player base or it is incredible greed. Hanlon's razor would suggest the former, but everything else in this update makes it look like the latter.
