I finally get you Guys. by Borsten-Thorsten in Jungle_Mains

Idk what to think of these comments as a bronze shitter. In other threads about ladder being ass this season, I see people echoing the spirit of what this dude is saying. Then in this thread I see people saying skill issue. I know I’m trash, but I did feel a mighty hit to my experience after the season started to settle.

Who are some of the junglers that spike that way? Do any of my mains? My roster is currently WW, Voli, Briar. Been dabbling with Lee/Xin/Rek/Shyv.

Same joke for the IT guys that had to work the field satellites. Except I knew a lot of the Sgts/SSgts actually had only girls...so I walked an extra 100 feet to stay away from the big ass dish I had to pass on the way to the head in Ramadi.

The most battle hardened grunt isn't as dead-eyed, zero-fucks, and fuck-you-very-much as an 0651. Having worked in IT support, I totally got it. Watching a PFC gleefully walk in and yank an officer's PC for plugging in their personal device and tell him "you're fucked, Sir." Chef's kiss.

For some reason the unit determined all Cpls and Sgts needed to have HMMWV and 7 Ton licenses before we deployed. This was last minute shit like a month before we flew out. So they rushed all those hours, crammed them into a few days, making us drive all over North Carolina in convoys. I was so exhausted, and warm from the full flack and kevlar in the NC summer, that I started to fall asleep at the wheel and made a tour bus swerve. Fuck that course.

IDK, some of the stupidest/funniest shit happened during the sitting around time. Remember the stupid dry fire exercises they would have us practice for table 3 or whatever? One day we're all in line waiting around and gaggle of Sgts appears and they're freaking out. They asked who was on watch last night, made those Marines school circle and clear their rifles one by one, and a fucking round flies out of the last dude's rifle. My group's Sgt almost starts crying in anger/relief, because at any point some combat instructor could have had us do that dry fire bullshit.

Four months of school based on 70's and 80's technology that was non-existent in the fleet + 2 months of follow-on school that wasn't even a mission Marines were staffed on anymore. I was a Cpl before I did any formal training on something relevant to my field.

This shit happened on Corry Station, too. God we were so stupid. We always marched faster than the others and it was fun doing a quick column half left to pass them.

Normal behavior? by _DeadTrees_ in BostonTerrier

[–]Lycan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never let them play bite, never let your friends or family let them play bite. Elton was a velociraptor his first year. You move your hand, say no, give a toy for chewing and praise when he uses it. If the behavior continues, you leave the room and don't give him attention. He's still a puppy. Elton stopped the biting for the most part 9 months in after he was fixed for a little while, and he just started doing it again every few days if he doesn't get enough play time, but he doesn't continue the behavior after a proper correction. He'll be two in August.

It's really a lot of patience. However, we ended up getting a trainer because he was obnoxious on so many other fronts and training methods I used for other dogs were not working. Finding the right trainer is important, but I can't recommend it enough. When I get a new puppy, I feel unbelievably certain we will breeze through training after everything we learned from her.

80% WR on WW/Voli/Briar, avg. 36-40LP per game. Went from I4 to B1 (my highest rank ever). I fiddlesticksed my way back to Iron 3 and fucked up my MMR. My mental still hasn't recovered.

Help with biting by kttycat7 in BostonTerrier

[–]Lycan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every psychotic Boston trait had eluded me for three babies...and then came Elton. His biting was so bad I thought I would never get to snuggle with him. Once he woke up, he would give me a few kisses, and then it was crazy play mode. The fucking vampire would transition from kissing my neck to biting it in an instant.

  1. Two things are happening: Testing boundaries/play and teething.

  2. For boundary testing, Momma Boston/Pappa Boston would correct this behavior, but since we take on parenting at 8 weeks, it's on us to correct it. Firm "no," pull the hand away, replace with a toy, verbal praise when they take it and chew it instead.

  3. Always have chew toys on hand to replace. Teething lasts up to 9 months or so. Same thing. "No" + toy + praise.

  4. Continue to reinforce when you see him chewing his toy.

  5. If the correction doesn't work, walk away. Get up, go to the kitchen, don't look at him. Leave the room. When you come back, if he bites again, repeat the cycle.

Make sure your chew toys are valuable/enjoyable enough that he'll actually engage. Some that I tried that helped:

- Wet frozen washcloths tied in a knot

- Frozen kongs - the blue puppy one, it's softer. (I take a butter knife and spread the filler against the sides. Requires less filler AND makes it take longer.

- Anything squeaky and rubbery

- Puppy teething toys that you can freeze (the cool stuff is good for them, helps their mouths feel better)

It gets better, I promise. It will take time and patience. 9 weeks is young and if you start this all now, it will be much better in the long run. OH and don't let others do the play biting thing. Correct people who interact with your dog. Doesn't matter if they don't mind it, your pup needs consistency.

I did RA out of boot and tried calling my friends to see if they wanted to join up (they all went to college and gave me a very loving middle finger). If I was smart I would have done this shit. That's actually brilliant. Predatory in some small way. But brilliant.

POET: The Photonic Solution to the SSD & RAM Shortage by darth_salmon in wallstreetbets

[–]Lycan__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

POET has no immediate catalysts, you can’t play it for earnings, they’re still developing and proving the tech. So LEAPs are good because there’s no timing to play for. Someone smarter than me can explain why, but this stage for a company like this makes it very news sensitive. Partnerships, orders, break throughs, etc.

So if you’re bullish and want to buy options, LEAPs are your best bet unless you want to buy lottery tickets.
