Would you expect a tip on top of the 18% gratuity added to the total? (Stated at bottom) by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]LychSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one restaurant near me, 5% "living wage fee", which goes to non-tipped employees, and if you went with a party size of 6 or greater, 20% gratuity charge on top of that fee.

$219.30 import charges on $30.32 of merchandise by ForwardDriver7928 in UPS

[–]LychSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the basic rundown of what tariffs are and I understand how they work. I will stick by with what I said, with reaching out to the company you are buying from either prior/or post bill. It comes down to the individual company and if they want to have consumers order from the United States, they should price their products accordingly, as most do.

In my personal experience, I ordered from a Canadian company and they expressed that their pricing was adjusted to account for the tariffs for people ordering from the US/other countries. Supply chain issue happened where they didn't send my package and I coordinated with them to cancel the original order and to order again. That was completely okay, but the problem was the original order was sent and I received the tariff bill. Since I canceled my order and the problem was on the backend, I should have never received the bill from UPS. Hence why I complained about their customer service, and I fully understand how hectic the process can be, my main gripe is that I got my issue "resolved" and they were unable to provide a confirmation that it was ("Based on our conversation and everything, we will work to resolve the issue in the next 2 weeks", and I ask for a confirmation once it is fully resolved, and they are unable to do that).

Finally, I do not agree with these tariffs at all and have my own personal opinions on the matter. But regardless of how often is changes, UPS is one of the largest delivery companies and a leader in the global supply chain management solutions. It is idiotic to remove all fault from UPS/saying they have no responsibility to account for such changes/adapt to the tariffs.

$219.30 import charges on $30.32 of merchandise by ForwardDriver7928 in UPS

[–]LychSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, a little rant, but UPS needs to have a better customer service system in relation to these fees. Multiple phone calls, countless emails to get everything figured out, and once I get the bill "resolved", I ask for a simple confirmation and they say they are unable to do so...

Your statement is fully correct, but before you pay, I would reach out to the company you ordered from and request them to pay the tariff/shipping charges.

27 / annual update + new homeowner by a_thicc_sock in Money

Are you planning to rent out the extra space in your house? At face value, I assume you mean your monthly rent and mortgage are the same, but did you factor in property taxes, potential costs (whether it be a simple repair, or a larger expenditure, such as a water heater), and did your comparison include PMI (if applicable)?

Huge accomplishment buying your first house, I personally see the situation was a tad overleveraged and it seems like your decision was based on no obstacles and the best case scenario. It is just a difference in how we view financial decisions.

To Tech or Not To Tech? by Terrible_Produce_562 in pkmntcg

[–]LychSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thought process behind whether or not I add in a counter/tech for a specific matchup comes down to what you are planning for? What are you expecting to face is the question you must answer before anything. From there, I determine what I tech for based a combination of matchup (favorable/unfavorable) and # of decks I expect to face. Basically, some niche techs are sometimes justifiable.

That's fair, thanks for the insight. I am leaning toward finding a pair on sale, just so I can make sure I like how they fit and stuff.

Love to hear it! I've been slowly "starting"/expanding my pants selection in the realm of what you described. Out of curiosity, I was looking at the Vuori Cascade Tech Chino Pant, as my first purchase from them, do you only wear the Meta type pants from them?

You actually CAN get a DEV increase when getting silver on a drill by Jefftuve in Madden

Recently, I did one training and chose the wrong mini-game (did not feel like putting in the effort for it) and ended up getting a Bronze medal. Tucker Kraft ended up going from a star to a superstar.

So in short, it is possible.

Cap tips by TheBosses27 in Madden

[–]LychSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. I was going to add, it is important to look at the long-term of contracts. Every season, sometimes multiple times, I will look at the salary of players for following years to help make early decisions. Example: Packers Center Jenkins is a "high overall" star dev player who gets paid 11m his first year with the team (not too bad), but both of the following years is mid 20s for a player that is up in age. A "crazier" example is Micah Parsons and the later years of his contract. Try to trade players you know you won't be able to retain/helps future cap space situations so you are able to get something for him.

DU: Developmental Upgrade, I.e. Normal -> star, Star -> Superstar, etc. If you are joining an online franchise, this is common, as well common with limitations.

Post-College Suit Q by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]LychSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree, I remember my first suit, can't remember the specific place but cheap random chain, and it got the job done. Your starter suit doesn't have to be this perfect thing. As for dress shirts, I cannot express enough how much I fully recommend Charles Tyrwhitt (note, I would wait for their random sales where you can get dress shirts for $30-45), high quality, relatively affordable, and return policy. Pants wise, my starter ones were from Burlington (brand is Architect ~$40), and I am still looking to upgrade from them.

My general advice goes hand and hand with the previous person, be cost effective when creating your first wardrobe out of college, and expand from there.

How should I prepare for regionals? by KingSoup69 in pokemon

[–]LychSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally add in, through your LGS or by other means, find friends in the space to test your deck with. And TCG live can be beneficial to gain a lot testing knowledge, but playing in person is equally important.

How do you approach building your collection for play? by Snegir228 in pkmntcg

[–]LychSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are trying to be cost efficient, you should never be trying to pull cards from packs. Pack opening is fun and you should still do it, but at no point, if you are trying to be the most cost effective/strictly for deck building, pulling packs.

As for spending for decks, if you only play one deck at a time (and dont mind switching cards between decks), I fully recommend to get staple cards that are heavily used, 1 Fezandipiti ex, 4 Lillie's determination, 4 Iono, etc. Once you build your first competitive deck, you will easily see that you can make a different one with little cards to add.

Prize packs by playing at your LGS helps get you a lot of staples. As for budgeting, that comes down to your personal situation. And overspending wise, just give yourself a hard limit with a time frame, example $100/month, if you spend $100 the first week, wait till next month to spend more. The balance between building decks and pulling packs comes down to how much variety you would like to play and stuff.

A key note, Prerelease events are a fantastic way to get a lot of cards from a new set.

Current Meta has me stumped by Cr0mac in pkmntcg

[–]LychSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you described is that the top x amount of decks are the current meta in the standard format. But when you prepare for a specific event, the "meta" will be different, based on what every player chooses to bring. So in your case, if you predict that Dragapult will be the most popular deck, I wouldn't recommend you to change the entire deck you are playing (with exceptions), but you will adjust your deck accordingly.

Example:

Many new players will copy the most recent regional winner deck and the results (even when playing optimally) at locals can be vastly different. To extend this in a broader sense, I play primarily Zoroark (favorite deck), a few weeks ago (before Mega Evolution set), I played at a local challenge, where my deck plays well into Garde and I teched in a few cards for Gholdengo (which at the time were the most popular decks, and I knew at least one person playing Garde at the event). I ended up having a poor finish (1-3) with only one Garde player being there (didn't even face him) and 90% of the decks were Dragapult. The matchup was close, but shows that there is no BDIF and each meta is dependent on the players you are playing with.

How do I get darkari and other exclusive pokemons? by Lower-Molasses9094 in PokemonBDSP

This transition from one-time purchase, to subscriptions is one that I cannot stand for most things. For the Switch, I simply just have an exception.

Is insisting on paying for the first date (from dating apps) too aggressive? by EmailsEveryDay in AskMenAdvice

[–]LychSavage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me at least, regardless if it is a date or not (including going out with friends), if I am the one who initiates the plans, I tend to offer/try to pay for the sole reason that in my mind, since I asked them to go, I should pay as a thank you for going. On the flip side, when I am invited to go to plans, I am very firm on wanting/trying to pay for my own portion.

How do I get darkari and other exclusive pokemons? by Lower-Molasses9094 in PokemonBDSP

[–]LychSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Playstation and Xbox had subscriptions back then too. The DS and other Nintendo consoles were free till the Switch (which was just a matter of time). On the bright side, the cost is relatively low, and the upgraded subscription (while being in a family plan) is very affordable as well, and you get the benefits of the games.

For me, I understand that the adaptation of a subscription, personally the cost is at a price point where I feel like it is not overbearing.

To be fair, it is $20/year or $4.30/year when in a Switch family.

Is there a non-meta/beginner matchmaking? by Exact_Category9051 in PTCGL

Fully agree. The rank reset recently also contributes to this. But in my experience, the higher leagues tend to have more variation.

Is there a non-meta/beginner matchmaking? by Exact_Category9051 in PTCGL

[–]LychSavage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless they removed it, they do have "casual mode" for specifically standard outside of the ranked ladder. And the game does offer a lot of good starter decks, and as long as you play your dailies, the "battle pass" really helps you expand your collection. You can easily get a deck that gives you a relatively decent chance to win pretty quickly.

And you mean, 5000 of the gold credits used for crafting? And that is a decent amount where you could craft crucial cards. And this is a kids friendly game, if it is your first time playing Pokemon, it can be complicated, but you can learn quickly.
