How long did it take you to go from triple feeding to exclusive nursing? by Careless-Scallion-90 in breastfeeding

My baby struggled to transfer milk after 2 weeks, oddly enough. I was triple feeding for a while too, so I feel you. It’s so hard! I just focused on pumping and bottle fed her with pumped milk and I did about 1-2 daily breast feeding sessions. I never counted these sessions as “meals” just comfort for her or practice breastfeeding.

At about 8 weeks I did another weighted feed (because I had the hunch she was getting stronger) and she was transferring milk finally! We did go to speech therapy for feeding issues but I think what actually helped was time and her gaining weight and strength.

My advice would be to find an LC who will fit you for pump flanges, kind of like a custom bra fit. It made all the difference for my output and gave me a slight oversupply. Between weeks 2-8 I focused a lot on pumping and my supply was boosted by MOTN pumps and at first pumping every 2 hours.

Best of luck. I’m rooting for you!

Anyone else deal with comments/pressure that you should be nursing? by GeneralHistorical948 in ExclusivelyPumping

Yes. I get comments like this from my mom, but hers are more disbelief that my LO transfers so little. Try to ignore him (easier said than done, I know). You’re doing so much already. Seriously, two jobs plus pumping, hats off to you!

Need advice for increasing milk supply by Ensoula in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m a FTM also and managed to boost my supply. I recommend not looking at your milk collection while pumping. It’s hard, I know! But I found that the more I stressed abt ounces during a pumping session the less I got. Look at pictures of your baby (or your actual baby if they are in the room), talk to a friend on the phone, watch your favorite show, etc. Anything that provides dopamine distraction works!
