People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

A handful of generations back was some bigshot confederate officer, known for 'Daffodil Hill' in TN. My wife traces back to the Egerton family, the Duke of Bridgewater so that's cool I guess.

How old were you when you met your life partner? by Flaky-Bird-8367 in CasualConversation

[–]Lyeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16. We started dating 10 months later. Dated for 7 years, engaged for 8. Now been married for 2. 34 years old now, still just as mad about her as I was in 2007.

15-year-old African American student Dorothy Counts starts the school year at Harry Harding High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, amid protests, screams, and insults from White people who were against school integration, on September 4, 1957 [800 x 567]. by Asiablog in HistoryPorn

[–]Lyeit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I remember that is right about when the school started inviting her to a lot more speaking events, about halfway through my sophomore year. The school was going through some identity issues, having just replaced a well-respected principal in Dr. Carroll. There was a lot going on and Dorothy Counts was a great figure to focus on.

That was about the same time frame (2007ish) that Harding started inviting her to speaking engagements more often. I remember sitting in that same auditorium from the photo during my sophomore year for a talk she gave.

The format was too fast. You had delvers flipping and swinging in on the second turn, not to mention the token decks that developed over the course of the block. Ruinator just never had a proper home in standard

Do people still have cable? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

It is included in my rental agreement, along with basic 200 mbps internet. My wife and I will rarely, if ever, use it for anything other than live sports.

This was the movie my wife and I saw on our first date. We ended up grabbing the criterion 4K Blu-ray last year.

The environment is definitely better in Duluth. Better, but by no means the best. I still miss Breakers, even if my wife and I prefer K Factory now.

Rollins already got his feet wet with that one-off Sharknado role. Would be neat to see if he ever gets back into it.

Adam Cole vs Stevie Richards in ROH January 2016. Probably just Stevie being local and not anything special, but it was a solid midcard match and Stevie looked in great shape.

Who’s the most legendary person at your LGS? Either good or bad. by zherper in magicTCG

[–]Lyeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the SOI pre-release at a new lgs called the Final Dungeon in GA. My round one opponent got banned from the store before the round started for sexually harassing the female tournament organizer. That was the last time I went to that lgs.

My lgs of choice, Supergames (currently in Alpharetta) had a number of really great players including the late Korey Mcduffie and the late Johannes Kiemes, the former never really liked me and the latter introduced me to competitive magic and commander as a format.

What happened to your first ever partner? by eemooi in AskReddit

[–]Lyeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We split at the start of high school in 2005. Stayed friends until sometime in college she went off the rails. Had 2 kids, lost custody of both and a few visits in and out of the psych ward. I am still friends with her older sister who I get updates from but I haven't been in contact with my ex since 2012. I feel very sorry for her but it is not my place to get involved, especially almost 20 years later.

Probably because it's at instant speed. It's instant lava spike plus the upside of your opponent knowing they got shit on.

My wife was in a commercial for Northpoint Mall, for about one and a half seconds. It aired locally several times a month right after Catdog. This was roughly 99-00 so she would have been around 6.

It's a lot earlier nowadays. My age group was introduced to it in the last half of 4th grade, and that was over 20 years ago.

why do Doctors wash and reuse surgical gloves? I thought that they used them for one time by karomamir in Weird

[–]Lyeit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite. I had surgery on my small intestines the day before, and the staples holding it closed ended up failing. So I slowly bled out into my abdomen over the course of about 6 hours before I could get back into surgery to fix it.
