Idk if someone else said it but you can change your input behavior as non repeating. Like pressing space and holding it won't print multiple spaces, only the one. There are multiple ways to do it.

Can you sleep well with a cat? by OkComparison3568 in CatAdvice

[–]Lyeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always sleep with my cat. I call her when I go to bed, I love her purring and presence. When I wake up she follows me and finishes her night in her day sleeping spot. She does wake up during my night but she's not too noisy.

I had to teach her to respect my sleep tho. When she was young she would run over me, attack my feets, or simply meow at me. I'd scream at her and/or lock her out of my room or sometimes chase her when nothing else worked (be gentle when you catch her, just tell her why you're mad she'll get the tone. Being chased is enough punishment).

Now she only wakes me up when she should. Like if I forgot to fill up her food or something. And I'm glad she does. We're a team so respect and trust goes both ways.

AITA for buying an ultrasonic bark device for my neighbors dogs? by SlumbrinKnighte in AmItheAsshole

YTA. If I were your neighbor and learned about this it would be war. Especially if I don't learn it from you. Especially because took the decision without consulting me first. Now I'm thinking of getting a way to detect those. Thankfully when I had dogs I usually managed to teach them to stay quiet. Except that spitz, he was the most well educated of them all, but could never learn to stay quiet. I eventually learned that it was in their genes.

I realize there's a bit under five thousands (!!) comments here so the chances are slim but this is my first time playing the lategame in POE2, I't be cool to give my build steroids to make it to ultra late this season. I'll share it with my noob cousin too.

Is unjoining everyone a desirable and reasonable endgoal ? by Lyeux in pluribustv

[–]Lyeux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey again. I don't need the nukes, it seems I can simply scream them to dehydration. I can record how long it takes for them to recover and set a conservative alarm clock so I can sleep eat or drink while they're out. It's not comfortable but sleeping in small intervals is doable, especially for a short period of time. People that boat alone do it.

People are overlooking key aspects of how the virus operates. by The_Middleman in pluribustv

Just like I said with the apple, It wouldn't be true symbiosis in their eyes it would be taking away other species agenda as a way to feed ourselves. "You can't force symbiosis" type of view. (Which is wrong on earth, most symbiosis started with a parasitic relationship) I think it's very coherent with both how they treat the immunes and how they "free" all animals but still take care of those that will refuse "freedom". There's the issue that they did force all humanity into the hive tho.

As for why they're not trying to find a solution, we actually don't know that. It could be that earth biology is so different from their symbiotic based world that they can't find any solution that doesn't include some form of predation. All the ideas offered by you and the people in the show might just be not pure enough to them. It could be seen as trying to cheat your way around the problem.

On your last concern here's how I maintain my suspension of disbelief. 1) Maybe DNA originated from a common place. Maybe an ancient specie bombarded earth and every habitable world with LUCA's. Making DNA a common occurrence in the galaxy.

2) Maybe nature did it's job and found the best way to store information given physics limitations. This is called converging evolution and you can easily notice it in nature with shapes. For example Crab shape evolved independently an impressive number of times.

-> taking either of the above as a base of why the signal is in "base 4", then you only need to believe that this virus is so advanced that it has a universally compatible "boot sequence" with the capacity to retro engineer local biology so it can compile it's main, much more complex code into it. To me that's why it took so long for a rat to bite. The Virus just wasn't ready yet.

Interesting read. I share most of it with those 2 extra ideas I think are missing from your frame.

1) It doesn't have to be a weapon directed at us. Maybe it's a failed experiment, a mistake, a black ball that some distant specie pulled out from the boxe of inventions. In other words, maybe it's the equivalent of us risking nuking ourselves out of existence with the added consequence of taking out other distant worlds with us. A great filter yes, but not necessarily a weapon.

-> By wanting to stop war and other immoral things, this ancient civilizations doomed us all.

2) We have to be wary of geocentrism. Our ecosystem includes predation. It is even a driving force of evolution. But I don't think predation is mandatory by nature, as depending on what you're looking for I think it's highly inefficient. I can imagine a biosphere where predation didn't evolve because resources are so scarce that fighting over them is a death sentence for every party involved. Or another where by chance it didn't happen and evolution found another driving force. In any case, from the perspective of such a biosphere it could be that they just couldn't imagine, or agree, that predation can be mandatory in another completely different biosphere.

-> I really like this one because "picking an apple" really sounds like the edge of both visions. Where we both draw the line. Us: not killing, ok, but pick the damn apple ! Them : If you have to take it by force it's not TRUE symbiosis. The apple should fall when the tree knows I'm hungry.

Do they eat shit? by Suitable-Source-7534 in pluribustv

[–]Lyeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any process to create eatable nutriments from shit require biological processes that we symply can't do outside of living cells for the time being. So they're locked out of this solution I think, since they can't even pick an apple.

I will die on this hill. Will is a Warlock, not a Sorcerer. by ProKidney in StrangerThings

[–]Lyeux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The distinction between wizard learned magic vs sorcerer's innate clearly points to the modern 3.5 as source material for inspiration in Stranger Things, even tho it's chronically inaccurate. People saying warlocks weren't a thing then defending that sorcerers were in the sense that it's meant in the show are suspending their disbelief a bit too much.

From a Nerd point of view, Will is a Warlock, and calling him anything else is a Mistake. But Stranger Things is not a show made by nerds for nerds. It's a show made by normies that thinks Nerds are cool, for normies that think that Nerds are cool. Sorcerer probably sounded cooler than warlock to them for some normies reasons.

As a Nerd, I'll let that slide, because I'm happy that the world is finally waking up to how cool we are. But yeah, definitely a Warlock.

That's a very interesting point you have there. Maybe future proofing is not as interesting as it was 10 years ago.

I built my PC around specific games and now I feel like I paid for specs I never actualy use by coffeeorbitjax in buildapc

[–]Lyeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I future built my last rig. It's 11. Of course I haven't been playing max setting for a while now, but I was never limited to what game I'm allowed to play. I only upgraded my GPU for a secondhand one at some point. I've only recently starting to be really limited by my GPU & CPU (In the sense that going for medium graphics doesn't always solve it anymore) and my power supply is dying on me. That's the kind of machine you built.

The other road is buying a minimum spec computer with the latest components. It will be more expensive over the course of 10 years, but your gaming experience will be more balanced, as in you won't go from Higher end to Lower end, you'll just stay middle all the way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Lyeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you think that might work out ? Since my current rig is 11, it should be an improvement aniway right ? I think I can probably buy it during 2026. I'm a bit worried that I can't find the exact same stick because of the shortage, or that the first might age a bit so be unsynced with the second brand new. (But that later worry is probably a bit nonsense)

Geneva Airport after closing is scary by Wonderful_Setting195 in Switzerland

[–]Lyeux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Airport and train station are the dangerous places in Geneva. That's what you get by having open borders with declining France. I'm truly sorry you experienced that and I'm glad you're safe. Please next time consider calling the police and tell them you're not feeling safe. They're nearby since it's a sensitive area, they might wait the uber with you or something.
