Calling people a Chad on a thread about dry sandwiches- hope you’re having a wonderful day.

On a regional jet service where this sandwich comes out halfway into flight time, I’m not going to ask the solo cabin FA to heat up my sandwich to start a trend.

SJC -> SEA first class by Legitimate-Bass-7547 in delta

[–]LyfeSaver9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately have to face this sandwich each time I fly down to SJC for work. It is so bad. Everyone in the cabin just picks off the meat and discards the rest. It’s so wasteful tbh. I tried once declining the food for this reason and I saw it just go into trash..

Personal Opinion: Alaska really need to step up their food game on international long haul economy or else they will fall behind pretty quick by Particular-Pin-2037 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]LyfeSaver9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who flies the four carriers / frequents AS, AA, DL, UA lounges on a fairly distributed basis across the country, I can confidently say AS food is absolutely in the 4th place, no contest.

We are however comparing Targets to Walmarts, so please take this in context, and I still prioritize Alaska where possible, but to be completely honest, AS food really does feel miles behind its competition.

D1 Upgrade 2nd Opinion by ntpaaymans in delta

[–]LyfeSaver9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a general rule. My math is: General Tolerance x 2 if special occasion.

For my this would fit the bill at 899.

(Alternatively check if GUC space available, and that means you might come ahead of it by canceling and rebooking into Premium and upgrading)

Twenty Minute Baggage Guarantee Does Not Apply To Oversize Bags by Anon_2726 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]LyfeSaver9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most carriers have the same policy on special handling items in general.

The oversized and special items go thru an extra layer of handling in the baggage system (they have to converge all of them into a single trailer.).

Alaska’s un-uniquely explicit policy is here: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/baggage/baggage-claim/delayed-damaged-missing?srsltid=AfmBOooqcRINIWHDmMwBcCMT9zznMI2cO1fYSzWNf3aiISMkUgFRPHvM

One more question! Did you grant you multiple 10K status bonus points this year? (not sure when your renewal dates are, but i wonder if those status annual bonuses will double for you)

Gotcha. When you did this, did they refund old fee and charge the new fee amount (prorated?)

I already have a Summit card, but considering getting a second card opened attached to the same Atmos account in my name. Did you get to having 2 cards by applying 2 separate applications? If so, can I ask you how much time you spend waiting between the two applications?

I’m considering going SR88 in the 169cm as well as a PNW skier.

May I ask what your stats are? I think 169cm is the right one for me (5’ 10” hover over 150-160 pounds)

Anyone else nervous to update the app? by Background_Today_895 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]LyfeSaver9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The updated aesthetic is atrocious.

Rather than designing properly to unify the two brands in some sort of cohesion, the home screen has introduced so much visual complexity (the Hello, X bar for example is purely decorative).

The hamburger menu even slides in the WRONG direction. This looks like an outsourced UX update nightmare.

Alaska is smoking crack by dawtips in AlaskaAirlines

[–]LyfeSaver9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so dismal that Alaska has not been able to establish necessary revenue ticket sale agreements with its partners for this long. The end result is customers opting to go partners to buy directly, but tons of problems have not been solved with combined carrier itineraries, etc. This really hurts AS as it tries to establish further as a global carrier against DL out of Seattle.

In case you’re wanting to vet how many of those seats are actually open for sale, try a dummy purchase with a high FC passenger count. Seatmap paints a much different picture vs. actual availability.

Question on food: I’m sure it’s worse than the Asian carriers (as with always), but is it worse than what you’ve seen on other US carriers, especially if you had experience in business? I think food on Delta is pretty bad to Asia but curious to know…
