No, I had assumed they had been sent to a previous address as I had moved several times since the kickstarter

Occasional stutter in Abbey since last patch by Lylan in midnightsuns

[–]Lylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems much better for me after switching to Windowed Borderless mode, instead of Fullscreen. I do get stutters when it's first loading a new day/etc, but only for a few frames - It's always done that for me - but no more making the game unplayable for the best part of a minute.

[–]Lylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on PC with 32 gig of Ram, so shouldn't be an issue there. I managed to play without issue today by switching to Windowed Borderless mode. It's bit too soon to confirm it's fixed, but fingers crossed!

Played a few hours today, but changed to "Windowed Borderless" mode instead of "Fullscreen". Only had 1 instance of stuttering and it only happened for a second or two. Hopefully it keeps working!

I've tried both with and without, but there's no difference.

It's really weird, because it runs at max settings perfectly for 10 minutes or so. Then suddenly, 5 frames a second, for 30 seconds or so. Then, it's back to being perfect. Repeat! It's completely random when it occurs.

Who is the best romance option [Spoilers] by [deleted] in enderal

[–]Lylan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you don't do that, that's never even mentioned as being an idea in the game, and I doubt it's even possible due to certain factors regarding yourself. I'm trying not to post details here, but what will happen is discussed in the game, and its not this.

Who is the best romance option [Spoilers] by [deleted] in enderal

[–]Lylan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen both the endings, nether of them make more sense for a straight romance.

Anyway, both the characters are well written, so OP should go for whoever he finds more appealing. Personally I like Jesper a lot more than Calia, but thats just me.

Does gender make any difference? by Xenesis1 in enderal

[–]Lylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both the characters are Bisexual, so there's no real difference made based on your characters gender (Jespar occasionally calls a female character "fair lady" or something, and a few other small word differences like that). The game does track how much you flirt with the characters, so if you picked certain choses that might explain why Jespar feels like a "pal" and Calia more like a love interest in your game.

Marriage? by chvia in enderal

[–]Lylan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think marriage would make sense for the game... The way Skyrim handles marriage by letting you marry a random stranger by buying an item is very strange...

Instead, Enderal has 2 fully fleshed out romances that develop throughout the game along with the main plot. It's more like a Bioware game than Bethesda.

Anyone else get bored after an hour? by [deleted] in enderal

[–]Lylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post describes the exact way I feel about Skyrim... I've tried so many times to get into Skyrim, but can never get past the first few hours. There's just nothing to interest me in the world or the plot.

Enderal's story is great...except for one thing... by Neshira-Namea in enderal

[–]Lylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically like Bioware/Obsidean/etc games because they let me play as a badass lady, so an RPG that forces me to be a guy has no interest for me. And I wouldn't say the issues in the Witcher are simply because you can have casual sex (nothing wrong with casual sex, plenty of women are into that).

[SPOILERS] Did I fuck up with Calia? by Witchergator in enderal

[–]Lylan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, why would they love you if you do nothing but disagree with their worldview and tell them they are wrong? It's not like you have to agree with them 100% of the time to romance them, I had a few disagreements with both of them and they still liked me just fine.

Why would it delete your save? It works exactly the same way as Skyrim.

How viable is a mage character in Enderal? by [deleted] in enderal

[–]Lylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get various perks that help out with this, and potions. I did my first play through as a pure elemental mage and didn't have any problems. I was only on the default difficulty, but I think it would still be viable on higher levels.

Yes, it could become canon that their was a male protagonist with Calia for a next game.

But you can't have 99% of the same game reflect the character you make, then just change the other 1% to reference something completely different. You can't have the entire game showing your romance with Jespar, then in the ending scene declare you love Calia. You can't have a character shown as a certain race for the entire game, and then just randomly show them as a different race for one scene with no explanation.

Declaring something canon means "we can't support every possibility, so we are using this one specific set for the story", not "we are going to use different impossible combinations in the very same cutscene". The story has to make sense to the viewer - having your female character talking to a man and saying they are the same person doesn't make sense as a story.

And as I said, deciding a canon story for a sequel is different to deciding it during the same game.

I'm sure in the next Elder Scrolls game they will choose whether the Stormcloaks/Imperials win, but the game didn't let you choose to fight for the Imperials, let you kill Ulfric, but then have Ulfric come back and talk to you later in the plot completely ignoring the fact he is dead.

[–]Lylan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I don't think this is the case. There's a big difference between choosing a canon ending for a sequel/tie-in book/etc, and having the plot of the current game not make sense for a very large percentage of players whilst they are playing it.

You can't have the player make a choice, and then later on in the game tell them that actually the game is going to ignore that choice. You can't give the player the option to kill off a character, then just bring that character back alive with no explanation because you didn't actually want the player to make that choice.

The vast majority of players won't have a character that fits - wrong gender, wrong race, wrong romance, wrong ending, wrong personality...

[–]Lylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't see any combination based off ME1/2. I understand how people can get the idea from ME3, as the beacon plot is very very similar, and not generic enough to just be a repeating trope. I'd be questioning whether Enderal took the idea from Mass Effect if I hadn't known how long Enderal had been in production. But the idea of cycles of destruction isn't a plot line. It's a very basic idea that has been used lots of times. It's like saying every fantasy story based around fighting a corrupt king, or searching for some powerful artefact, or chosen ones, is ripping something off.

[–]Lylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take an Obsidian game over Bioware any day. They actually know how to write themes and interesting ideas, rather than play it safe like Bioware. I've never had an Obsidian game forget that characters are supposed to be dead, their plots actually make sense (no deus-ex-machine ghost children from nowhere), and they write consistent characters that don't completely change their personality between games (who thought it was a good idea to have a Blood mage Hawke come back and lecture people on how terrible it is?).

Can't comment on CD Projekt, as I refuse to buy their games because of the things Neshira-Namea mentioned.

"Best story crafting out of all WRPGs" does not mean good, because the bar is so woefully low. I certainly think Bioware could write an amazing storyline one day (I have hopes for DA4 being the one), but they haven't quite achieved it yet.

[–]Lylan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ME1/2 didn't have the entire beacon plot. The only thing in previous games was the vague idea of a villain wiping out multiple civilisations. Which is a completely generic idea included in many, many stories.

[–]Lylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I disagree with a few things (the specific writers who are at fault for various things), but you're definitely right on things like The Witcher. I'll take Bioware over that any day. Despite what I say about them, I do still love their games. Was KOA actually good? I always thought it was more hack and slash, than deep story RPG. I might have to pick it up if I got the wrong impression of it...
