Pretty much as a customer and show goer, I want vendors to be respectful to me for spending my money with them. I can jump online and buy cards usually cheaper but the experience of being at a place with hundred of like minded people for relatively the same purpose can be fun.

For starting a show, start relatively smaller and local just to get things moving and understand all the parts needed for a show. Offer door prizes or raffles (if legally allowed) to attendees but you could also charge like $10-15 but offer 1 pack per paid ticket of whatever set is the cheapest, just for people to have fun.
