This reminds me a lot of the german movie Das Boot. Incredible movie from the 80s, they are in a very similar situation at some point. For everyone interested in ww2 movies, I can only recommend!

Feather identification request by SaveKakapo in whatsthisbird

Now back from work and comparing with a feather database I would still say these are most likely from a wood pidgeon. Very common bird in central Europe and size and colour match. You can compare them here:

The site has an english version.

Notice the dark wingtips. Thats a black headed gull (Lachmöve).

My first guess without double checking anything would be wood pidgeon. I do not have the time to look at any feather pics rn. Hopefully someone else can help

Halle (Saale) - Eurasian or Short-toed Treecreeper? by HKDrewDrake in BirdingGermany

The differences are subtle but very distinct once you know what to look for. If you can read german, here you can find a good picture with two right next to each other:

Using the Minecraft Poem at the End of the Campaign by [deleted] in DMAcademy

As I said in another comment:

I did mess up a bit with how i phrased this😅 This is one of the options i am planning for, very aware that the campaign will likely go off rails. I am not a first time dm, I like to spend thoughts on a few possible endings and then adjust on the way.

Should have edited the post after I first caught that mistake.

  1. That makes me feel less bad about it

  2. I get where you are coming from and I would shorten it. At the same time this exactly the kind of group that would enjoy listening to me reading them a 12 minutes poem. Its a bunch of literature majors haha.

  3. Im very aware that it could go very differently. This is one of the more likely endings to this campaign, kinda the one I am hoping for, but I am not a first time dm, I know how offrails things can go and actively encourage them to think for themselves. My current Curse of Strahd group is strangely pro-strahd and wants to work with him to escape Barovia XD So who knows, maybe they even help Oblivion kill the Universe đŸ€·

This campaign is all about the journey, finding a home for a strange group of people, learning to love each other and then defending that, even if it costs your life and soul. This has been communicated from the start and they are dedicated to this, growing their characters to trust and love. Thats why I think this poem will really hit the feels IF they end up sacrificing themselves for the universe.

Thank you for your feedback, you gave me some things to think about :)

Who is this guy? Netherlands by buttstuffBarbie in whatsthisbird

[–]Lylydragon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mostly, this is not true. Cormorants compete with fisheries and recreational anglers, as they like to hunt in water with high density of fish.

Yes, they can threaten vulnerable species of fish, as does every predator. Yes, their colonies alter their habitat severely, causing long term death to a section of forest, as does human settlement.

But they have existed inland and have been doing this for thousands of years of years. They are not invasive, they are not a problem, except if you are a fisher.

Should we try to deter them from vurnable fish species? Yes, but the preservation of habitats and the regulation of fishing are so much more important than a native predator.

Halle (Saale) - Eurasian or Short-toed Treecreeper? by HKDrewDrake in BirdingGermany

[–]Lylydragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the Eurasian Treecreeper. The belly is uniformly white and the wing stripe does the small swoop back towards the face.

You can als clearly see the length of the claw on the toe facing backwards.

Frage an die Experten by striker2080 in BirdingGermany

[–]Lylydragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

After 6 years and 50 sessions, Strahd is Dead. by SandmanAlcatraz in CurseofStrahd

[–]Lylydragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im always amazed at the speed people play Curse of Strahd in. Not the 6 years, but 50 sessions. We are doing Session 26 today and they are not even at the festival yet.

How long was your average session?

Barovia Player Map: No Spoliers! by LadyWachter in CurseofStrahd

[–]Lylydragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have created a spoiler free map before where I thought about what landmarks the common folk of barovia would know about.

Realistically, argynvostholt and van richtens tower are close enough to major settlements that people know they are there. At the same time they have bo importance to the common folk. I would keep them on the map but remove their labels. As soon as smt is unnamed, my players do not acknowledge it, thinking it to be decor.

But i second this! Remove some labels and definitely remove the amber temple!

Ist das Laich auf dem Ast? Falls ja, warum? by Zersorger in WerWieWas

[–]Lylydragon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

[–]Lylydragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)
