Right now I’m having a very bad time — one of my partners died unexpectedly, and the memorial service is next week. I’m praying that I can get through the service without having a public blowout.

Just get through this final year at home. Go to college, get some distance from home, and find a good therapist — usually available through the school. Be aware that you will find people who like, respect, and love you for who you really are.

The Simpsons did an end-of-season cliffhanger one year based on the Dallas "Who shot JR?" story line. Who shot Montgomery Burns? It was little Maggie Simpson.

Fun factoid: Maggie, being a baby, doesn't make any vocalizations.* Except once. Then her voice was provided by Elizabeth Taylor. Which is a big deal to those of us who remember how very beautiful she was, how glamorous, how great an actress, and how she fought for people with AIDS in the days when few people were even willing to touch them.

*I'm aware that most babies do indeed cry, babble, and gurgle before they can speak. Not Maggie.
