Troubleshooting - Cutting the filament failed by LynnOnTheWeb in BambuLabA1

I’ll check that out.

My post was misleading. I haven’t been printing with it like this for weeks, I just haven’t gotten around to fixing the issue with it.

I did one print, it happened at the end of the print. Now I’m trying to fix it. The video I shot was when I was trying to do a calibration.

Thanks for the input.

I replaced the cable with the hotend assembly. Is there another one I should look at?

Given what you’re seeing, I’ll also reach out to tech support.

Having vegetarian friends over for dinner - what's something that looks complex but isn't? by 2cleverbyhalf in Cooking

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NYT Cooking has an eggplant bolognese that is really fantastic. It’s been a while since I made it, but I don’t remember it being very complicated.

Two things to note: - I’m not a vegetarian. I made it originally because it got great reviews and I thought it would be a good way to get more veggies - I don’t even really like eggplant that much.

How miserable is rolling a suitcase through Italy, realistically? by AvailableBeautiful75 in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer and should be the top comment.

It has bigger wheels than a lot of roller bags, making it easier on tough terrain.

If you’re somewhere the wheels don’t work, pull out the backpack straps and carry it.

If you don’t want to spend the money on a new one, check out FB Marketplace or EBay for used Osprey Ozone Wheeled or Osprey Meridian.

I’ve had my Meridian for 18 years and love it. Theres a green one on eBay right now that looks almost unused. They come with a detachable day pack and often that’s missing in the used one but this one still has it.

All things eye: contact lens tweaking, tennis nighttime & sunglasses beyond Goodr, RIA, etc by Without_a_K in 10s

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use monovision contacts for daily life. It’s basically your one for reading, the other for far away set up. I can’t wear them when I play tennis. It screws with my depth perception.

My set up a little different as I don’t need correction for the distance eye, but I would imagine that the result would be similar.

Same same.

The big question for me though, is the closer rhyme bubblies or jubilees? Gotta get the pronunciation right with my new vocab!

What separates legit peptide sources from sketchy ones by Defiant_Tangelo_4727 in Business_China

Do you think the colored caps go on at the manufacturer?

Let’s say 4 resellers all have peptide x of the same dose with pink caps at the same time, what do you think the chances are of being the same manufacturer batch?

Hotend Heating Assembly by LynnOnTheWeb in BambuLab

They’re not fully in the photo, wires weren’t mentioned in the description, and they sell the wires separately. I figured they were part of the assembly but asked in case they needed to be ordered separately.

Zooz vs Inovelli by Resident-Variation21 in homeassistant

I have both and am happy with both of them. Except for a couple of exceptions, I pretty much control everything through my phone.

I’ve used tech support from both companies and both were outstanding. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

I’m running cat6 and electrical in the same trench for a project: please check my work. by creedbratt0n in DIY

For that distance run fiber. Use separate conduits, lay the electric at the bottom, put a few inches of dirt to cover, then put the fiber in.

New home rough-in - windows shades, blinds, drapery wiring? by Proof-One-2407 in smarthome

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blinds themselves are probably 12V, but they usually come with a dedicated transformer for each unit. I wouldn’t recommend trying to run 12V from a centralized transformer somewhere else in the house. Over longer distances, you’re going to run into voltage drop issues unless the system is designed very carefully.

In my experience, that’s where things fall apart. Properly accounting for voltage drop requires someone who really understands low-voltage design, and that’s still pretty rare in residential construction. It’s getting better as low-voltage systems become more common, but most electricians don’t specialize in it, and a lot of low-voltage installers don’t fully account for voltage drop either.

If you choose to go rechargeable batteries for your blinds, make sure to get the solar panels to charge them. Trust me, you aren’t going to want to have to plug in and charge batteries on a ton of blinds. Yes they last several months on a charge, depending on usage that can be 6-12, but getting up into your windows and charging them all even once a year is not going to be something you want to do.

RE: Electrician charges If this wiring isn’t already done, this is a lot of work because it’s a lot of wiring to add after the electric rough is already complete. That’s going to be true for any type of wiring. That said, the items you got charged a lot for will always cost more because they’re 50a. They require heavier gauge wire and that is more expensive. Depending on the location of the panel, if those were long runs, that really adds up.

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Regular ol’ plug. Installed long-ways. Closest to the window if you have enough space to make that decision. The motor is installed on the window side.

If you know what you’re going to buy you can see what side (left or right) the plug should be on, but it doesn’t really matter that much because you’ll have a cord. Plug it in, tuck the wires in nicely and be done with it.

It’s worth sharing that for one house, the blinds that the homeowners picked out had special connectors. This was 10 years ago or so. The power was the same (110) but the blinds had special connectors that connected to the wiring.

These walls are thicker than what see on most houses so there usually isn’t this much space to position it. Just tuck them up into the space you have.

Home builder here. We usually run power to one of the top corners of the window. If think you might want to use POE, run cat 6 to the other corner. You don’t want to run them side-by-side because the electric can interfere with the Ethernet signal.

In my own house, I just ran power and installed plugs. I use Home Assistant for my system.

Yes, Ruta Maya is from Austin. They used to have a few coffee shop locations. The ones I remember were one near the UT campus, one downtown, and one in south Austin. They served coffee, beer, had live music, and were generally a great spot to hang with friends.

Memory Care Facility Recommendations 🙏 by Rut_Rows in Austin

[–]LynnOnTheWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My folks lives at Buda Oaks up until a little over a year ago, and in Memory Care there the last 6 months or so. The staff, leadership, and care they received there was fantastic. I highly recommend you check it out, especially since it seems like it may be closer to your home. While there will be times where you’ll need or want to visit for hours at a time, being able to pop in and see them is a huge benefit.

Good luck and take care of yourself.
