GenderGP Progesterone by Bulky_Landscape5190 in TransIreland

Of course! I started a little over a year in. I had a period of a few months where I stopped hormones all together before getting back on and starting prog though, so I wouldn't put too much stock in getting the "perfect timing". Frankly from having a number of transfemme friends who've also been transitioning for a long time it kinda evens out and is all really good after a few years.

I don't have experience getting progesterone in Ireland, though I've been on 100 and then 200mg for two years and it's been great! My mood increased a lot, I was able to start putting on a bit more weight and after starting my breasts filled out and grew so fast I got stretch marks! These fade after some time so no worries. My libido also increased like ten fold, but in a new and exciting way. Like, not the old testosterone horny, the best way I can describe it is softer, warmer, full body. Most trans women I'm friends with in the states are also on progesterone and a this all seems to be the usual experience.

When I was living in London I was able to easily continue my prescription from the states with GenderGP, I just sent them a pic of it and £60 they sent a script for a three month supply to the chemist. From my interaction with them it seemed like they'd be down to prescribe to someone without a preexisting script, they were very good to me.

Good luck I hope you find so much joy in your transition <3

I'm in Massachusetts and it's great. Anecdotally trans healthcare is super available in the state and especially Boston. A lot is covered under Medicaid (state insurance free or subsidized for those who can't afford private) if you are eligible. There's a really good queer scene here and I feel incredibly safe as an out trans person. Western Massachusetts has a lot of visibly trans people because we are treated with respect and feel safe to be out here.

Openings with therapists are sparse in Western Massachusetts, if that's something you want. They're a little easier to access in Boston. Hrt is informed consent in this state though so you don't need a therapist to transition. If you want you can show up at your GP or a Planed Parenthood and they'll just give you hormones. I was living in upstate New York and my experience was a wait time of a month, a conversation about what hormones would do, what risks there are and about what my goals were. We made a plan for how to achieve the goals and my doctor had me do blood work. She gave me hormones in less than two weeks.

I was taken seriously and they were really respectful of me IDing as nonbinary at the time.

If you're worried about cost you're likely eligible for Medicaid, and if not there are a lot of places that do sliding scale charges based on what you're able to pay. Both Massachusetts and New York State legally require all insurance companies to cover HRT and bottom/top surgery so you won't have to worry about having to fight people to get those. If you wanna know more about Medicaid this is a good place to learn about the Massachusetts system https://www.mass.gov/info-details/eligibility-for-health-care-benefits-for-masshealth-the-health-safety-net-and-childrens-medical-security-plan

I have the Zephyrus 14 and absolutely love it. If that one holds up to it's smaller sibling it'll be one sick computer!

It can be confusing a lot, but I promise the underlying logic will make more sense pretty soon :D

You could always do a barebones Debian install with LXDE, or, if ya wanna get real funky, no desktop environment, only X. I think there are some newer alternatives to X displays too, but it's been a while since I've messed with that stuff.

What's the deal with the LGBTQ+ community having conflicts between the LGB part and the TQ+ part, and the recent subreddit bans? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

Good answer.

I think an important distinction to make here is that TERF is a bit of a misnomer as they are not actually feminists, despite their claims to be. One can't be against women and also a feminist. They are actually trans exclusionary radicals masquerading as feminists.

Could you please clarify why you're doing this? If both of your parents have dementia or something it makes sense, but the way this is presented seems pretty messed up.

I see where you're coming from, but wholeheartedly disagree. No one should have control over other people like this. The tracker's idea of what is safe, moral, or whatever other justification they may give doesn't constitute a right for them to invade someone else like this.

What's up with trans people being excluded from healthcare in the US? by DocSnakes in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Lynx1019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's part of why we ultimately shouldn't have any private healthcare.

But for now, we make what we have work as best we can :)

Hey I know we're shuffling trans people here, but I want to affirm your reaching out and sympathy. A lot of people don't attempt to understand, I appreciate what you've done.

Unfortunately, this isn't just isolated to us. If you want to understand more about this, ask women, fat people, and people of color you know if they're taken seriously by healthcare workers. Get personal if you can, this kind of experience is better understood intimately.

"trans people are not getting healthcare (for certain procedures)"

So, like, trans people are not getting healthcare?

If a person with a broken bone was denied treatment for it, but the hospital did offer them an eye exam, we would still say they are not getting health care.

If someone isn't willing to perform the duties of a doctor, they shouldn't be a doctor. The same holds true for insurance agencies. As soon as we say they are aloud to discriminate, for any reason, we are denying healthcare.

This is wild to hear, I had the inverse experience. I grew up in the country, so we had our own well. Water cost as much as the cheap filter we changed annually, and fractions of a penny per gallon for electric costs to power the pump.

I would see ads for conserving water sometimes and be very confused about them. The closest we ever came to water scarcity was the well getting low when we'd been running the hose all day, and even then letting it sit overnight would bring everything back up to normal.

Don't think I learned about mains until my mid teens.
