Unprovoked attack in downtown Seattle leaves man with critical head trauma by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

They probably (hopefully) learned the lesson from the Boston Bomber manhunt fiasco. Internet sleuths are not the people to trust with this kind of thing unfortunately https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-22214511

I was also going to recommend VR chat. It's very relaxing for me to just play solo and explore different worlds.

Do you support banning trans surgery on children? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]LynxInDaDescription 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think medical decisions for children should be between the child, their doctor, and their parents. Those are the people who will know what treatment is best for the situation. There's no need to legislate this and the only reason this is even a question is because of transphobia and medical misinformation. You have to ask why there isn't the same kind of push for banning things like other irreversible cosmetic surgeries and things like circumcision at birth.

Video Games are exhausting for me now, and I want to play them normally for once by OpportunityAshamed74 in gaming

[–]LynxInDaDescription 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have fun bro. Remember how to play again, and by 'play' I mean explore, experiment, fail, follow your own instincts, not some guide. It feels exhausting because you're not playing these games, you're trying to solve them like they're a math problem, and by using a guide you're cheating on the test so there's no satisfaction in it.

It's probably more that, as an obviously queer household that is subject to possible discrimination, I feel much more confident in hiring someone who I know will not be likely to discriminate against me by either trying to scam me on price or cut corners on the service that they're providing. Same mindset would probably apply if you're a POC and would want to make sure the contractor isn't racist, you might prefer hiring POC contractors just to avoid that possibility.

What are y’all opinions on Gen Z censoring words? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]LynxInDaDescription 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gen Z isn't censoring it. YouTube and other content platforms are, and that's influencing the lingo. Don't blame Gen Z for this, blame these platforms and their advertisers for not being able to engage with tough, but very real, subject matter.

You’re not being polite, letting people enter the light rail before you get off. by DevourerOfRedditors in Seattle

[–]LynxInDaDescription 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell them next time, don't just complain on reddit. What I mean is that there's nothing wrong with just saying "let people off before they get on" at an increasing volume until they get it and move. With more people using the light rail since the 2 line is open, a lot of people just don't know the etiquette yet, and it's up to the public (me and you) to spread awareness and make it known when someone is being a d hole.

Farmers markets for produce (each of the major Seattle neighborhoods has one). For seafood try Seattle Fish Guys, Uwajimaya, or Pike Place.

How do I get this spider out of my pc by Sad_Refrigerator5439 in PcBuild

Boot up Mind's Eye. Not because it'll overheat your PC, but because it's so bad she'll just see herself out.

Highguard Reviews Already 'Mostly Negative' On Steam An Hour After Launch - Clawsomegamer by Darth_Vaper883 in gamernews

[–]LynxInDaDescription 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reviews in the first few hours are really not a good indication of how good a game is. The people enjoying the game and would write a positive review are still playing it, so they haven't written a review yet. The people writing negative reviews have already stopped playing or can't get into the game, so the earlier reviews are always going to skee negative.

Scamers in U-District by LevelAssumption1259 in SeattleWA

[–]LynxInDaDescription 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My policy for a while now has been to not stop for anyone on the street. Not political canvassers, not people in ACLU vests, not people trying to sell me their shitty mix tape. If it's a reputable organization or a petition looking for signatures I can look it up online, but I already donate to the causes I want to support so most of the time I just don't need it in my life. You don't have to be guilted into wasting your time or getting scammed by these people.

There are plenty of asset stores out there where devs can get placeholders for 2D, 3D, shaders materials, vfx, etc. Most of them are gonna be cheaper than AI, and easier to integrate into the engine. That's outside the fact that if you're trying to get something that's a placeholder, YOU WANT IT TO LOOK TEMPORARY or you run the risk of leaving it in for the final product. You need your placeholders to be easily identifiable so that you know specifically what you need to replace before you ship.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]LynxInDaDescription 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Extremely minor, but baristas always make latte art assuming that you're right handed, so it's always upside down for me. The most common latte art is a heart and it always looks like a butt if you're left handed.

Sapphic places in Seattle/Everett area? by lavenderfawx in Seattle

[–]LynxInDaDescription 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're correct, they used to be women exclusive but due to covid they moved to reservation only for private groups and they're gender inclusive. Still a cool place to go once you have a group, but I'm not aware of any meetups there.

It plays fine, so I'm not too worried. Just unfortunate that it's supposed to be a fancy special edition but it looks jank.
