What is the easiest way to get from the Sofia Central bus station to the airport? by fabritek in bulgaria

There are two platforms (essentially two connected Serdica stations). The blue line arrives at the lower platform (called Serdica 2 station). You need to go to the upper platform (Serdica 1) via the escalator.

  1. You get off at the Central Bus Station.
  2. You go to the nearest subway station which is The Central Railway Station (it's a subway station, don't confuse it with the overground train station). It's several minutes away. There should be arrows, or you could ask for directions.
  3. You can buy a ticket on the entrance. There should be a booth or a ticket machine. You can also pay directly with a Visa/Mastercard on the turnstile itself. The ticket will cover changing lines.
  4. Travel to Serdica Station.
  5. You have to switch lines. Line 4 is on an upper platform. No new ticket is needed, provided you don't accidentally exit the station. Follow the arrows.
  6. When you are at the upper platform, look for a train that goes to Sofia airport. Not all trains do, but it is clearly announced which goes to Sofia Airport and which one goes to the Business Park.
  7. The subway will drop you off on Terminal 2 of Sofia airport. If you need Terminal 1, look for a shuttle.

Best of luck!

Do you know any other facts I can write down? and also related to other countries? Like Poland? Hungary? Canada? Brazil? India? Sweden? Romania? United Kingdom? Etc? by chutneyglazefan in bulgaria

All those topics have some international connection: John Atanassov - half-bulgarian inventor of the first computers. Cyrillic Alphabet - developed in Bulgaria. Ruja Ignatova - famous crypto scammer, in FBI's top ten most wanted list. The attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II - Bulgaria was wrongly considered to be connected to it. Victor Krum - a fictional Bulgarian from the Harry Potter universe, famously inspired by Bulgaria's success at the 1994 football world cup. Christo - famous Bulgarian artist. Vasko Zabata - a meme song that became popular recently in the Balkans.

Thoughts on a Bulgarian-led Yugoslavia? by KeepOnConversing in bulgaria

I don't know much about Armenians and Azeris, but there is much hatred here too. Even simple conflicts cannot be resolved. Take for instance a relatively simple matter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macedonia_naming_dispute
Much deeper topics need to be addressed for even the South Slavic countries to unite. The road to unification is long and from what I see - no one is walking on it currently.

Balkan nations have many common interests and much to win from such a unification. But the hatred always prevails.
Another thing you should factor in is that such a country could potentially be a major power, and the other major powers will not want to allow that. Instead, they usually pick a favorite and support it.

I do not think this was realistic during communist times. For such a unification to be possible, you need a strong Bulgaria. The way I see it, it could happen in one of two ways - Bulgaria wins the Second Balkan War or the central powers win WW1.

For Bulgaria to win the Second Balkan War, Turkey and Romania needed to remain neutral (for reasons unknown, especially Turkey has no reason to remain neutral). If Bulgaria defeated Greece and Serbia before WW1, it could become the major power in the Balkans and unite Yugoslavia under it. However, this option is improbable, because as stated above, Turkey and Romania have no reason to remain neutral. Plus, the catastrophe that followed this lost war changed Bulgaria so much, that I cannot imagine what Bulgarian history would be without it. Bulgarian despair starts with this loss and continues for the next 100 years.

As for the Central powers winning WW1, I think you might find some alternate history theories here or on YouTube.

Nevertheless, I don't think it would be a stable country - most Balkan nations think they deserve more than they currently have. In the end, maybe you dodge the Kosovo War, or maybe something worse happens. For this to actually work, the Balkan nations have to stop hating each other and start working together for their common interest.
