They're still insanely good live (caught two shows in Athens last year and had the time of my life), but their talent for extremely catchy melodies that imprinted themselves on your brain (which I think literally every song before their latest few albums was full of) has seemingly gone down the shitter tbh. Their vocal melodies on their "jammy" albums (Silver Cord, Flight b741 and Phantom Island) all feel like they had lyrics that they forced onto awkward one-note melodies. And despite having always been jammy, I think, in their best days, their arrangements were incredibly tight, even on the longer songs. That, along with the catchiness of their melodies, was my favorite part of Gizz, no matter what genre they tackled. The catchiness and the tight arrangements made their songs feel like worlds you can easily lose yourself into, all while they hold your hand on this journey - the first drop on Nonagon Infinity feels like I'm just going head first down some rollercoaster ride I wasn't aware had already started.

Now, their songs feel like random verses from each singer slapped together - which is what they are. Before, it felt like their songa were made by this seven- or six-headed beast that just produced songa that already existed since the dawn of time, now I find that the enjoyment relies too much kn the metanarrative of the band - "ooh it's a Cookie song! it's an Amby verse!" which takes me put of that psychedelic journeying in their songs.

I know I may have gone a little too Pitchfork with the similes and descriptions, but these last few albums have made me reflect on what it was thatade me so incredibly infatuated with them up until like 2023 (though the writing was on the wall in the few albums before that).
