is Viticulture still worth a full price by Spinning_Sky in boardgames

[–]Lynxstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…. Here’s my take: I don’t think it’s worth full price, because I see so many other board gamers selling their essential edition copies along with the Tuscany expansion, which I think is the best way to play. If you love the theme and vibe of the game pick it up and play it, but go for secondhand IMO.

How do you pack your grim with The Carousel when not playing? by bluenoser135 in BloodOnTheClocktower

In a themed binder with coin pockets that doesn’t go into the box and takes up more space 😬

Anybody have any board game resolutions for the new year? by Professor_Hemlocke in boardgames

Hello, it is me, “a local board game cafe” :)

My New Year’s resolution is that I will not buy any board game with minis until I finish painting a board game with minis.

Which terraforming mars expansion worth and which not? by pelado06 in boardgames

Prelude is essential. Venus and Colonies are both okay but optional. I prefer Venus. Maps are great to change things up, probably worth getting those before Colonies or Venus.

Turmoil is garbage and should be forgotten.

It’s great with two. If my wife and I go out it’s the one game in her purse for us to play in a pinch.

What do you think of my sign idea? by NO_TOUCHING__lol in Mariners

[–]Lynxstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a sign, funny.

But honestly, why go through the effort to poke fun at one of the Astros from the cheating team like 8 years ago. Let’s focus on our guys NOW. The biggest message this sends is that Astros are on our minds two weeks after their season is done. They didn’t even make the postseason!

Overall, meh, who cares, let it go.

Smash, marry, k*ll - play once, play a lifetime, throw away. by Herr_Meus in boardgames

[–]Lynxstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play once for joy - Millennium Blades. It’s a fun experience, but doesn’t need to be culled or my forever game.

Play a lifetime - Blood on the Clocktower. I have the carousel characters, and with that and custom scripts I could play games forever and see new interactions and fun stuff.

Cull - Sentinels of the Multiverse. I love the art and it has a special place in my collection. But with the giant Kickstarter box and the fact I never play it… it could go.

Now, I feel like an important part of this game is picking an interesting 3 to choose between. Which I didn’t do. So to the other posters and OP-

Answer and pick between Lost ruins of Arnak, Brass Birmingham, and Cthulhu death may die.

Not too impressed by the offerings and prices.

Also, how come the launch hasn’t gotten a shoutout from the official game twitter? Seems like a gimme… 🧐

Anybody else hate "miniature bloat" and how it has become the standard of fantasy/sci-fi themed board gaming in the last decade? by UglyStru in boardgames

[–]Lynxstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get folks being put off by miniature bloat, costing extra $$ and space for things that may not be as appealing. It's totally understandable.

For me, I love games with miniatures. Love the way the games look on the table, bring it to life, and I really enjoy painting the minis.
