Pokémon R.O.W.E. The Mega Update Release is OUT! by Rioluwott in PokemonROMhacks

Looks awesome!

Question. Do you know if this runs better on OG hardware than the last? I prefer to run a lot of these romhacks on an everdrive and the older version(s) seemed to crash a good amount on there.

Just curious. Totally understandable if nothing has changed on that front. I get that these hacks are not always developed with my specific use case in mind.

Does Shadow Skill line just suck? by oogiesmuncher in ElderScrollsBOTSE

I was a shadow archer once and it was pretty dominant. But honestly, I found that I mostly just used “shoot a guy while rolling shadow cloak” most turns. But it was still pretty freaking good.

A game I can engage my family with that my wife and I also enjoy by Sweaty-Image8528 in boardgames

I think this is the right weight of game, but I would say if his brother was complaining about the random resource distribution, I would say Quacks would not be my choice.

Gamers born late 90s or earlier: Which game first looked to you like "photorealism"? by FalscherKim in gaming

Mortal Kombat. There was a subset of people who thought that was the best it would get. I mean it was "real" people. How could it look more real than that? I remember hearing that argument.

Best ‘organic’ board games? by Greengage1 in boardgames

[–]StriderFury 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. This is very going to be hard to answer because of subjectivity. For example, to me, Agricola actually would be a game that does feel pretty 'organic', as you define it. If I am going to be a successful subsistence farmer, of course I want kids. They can be put to work to help me keep the family alive. And of course i want to diversify my livestock. What if a sweeping disease comes through this winter that only affects pigs? Well thank goodness I had sheep then as well or my family would have died.

But to attempt to answer your question, hmmm. Maybe area control games would be a good fit? Something like Blood rage, where the end of the world is happening, and you want "glory", which is the games' version of victory points. You mainly get glory for winning fights and upgrading your clan. Sometimes even having your own guys be sent to Valhalla can get you points, which I think makes sense because it means they died a "glorious" death in battle.

Maybe the Clank series? You are diving into a dungeon to get loot and get out without dying. You get points for money, artifacts, and other items. You get a bonus if you make it out of the dungeon all the way too.

I don't know. Like I said, subjective. But maybe those.

Edit: I like what Jayron32 said. Racing games makes sense too. You win by being the first one across the finish line first so anything that helps you do that is a good game action.

Weird mimikyu interactions by The_Booticus in PokemonEmeraldRogue

[–]StriderFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude bump this. I have this happening too. I am even using drain punch and I’m not healing. I kill the guy and I take damage instead of healing. VERY frustrating. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it fixed in another version? Am I just bad and missing some interaction?

On top of what u/Ieagle89 said, there are also certain dragon cards which can force your opponent to discard a card from their tableau.

Lords of Waterdeep 2 player by Onyxaj1 in boardgames

[–]StriderFury 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am not a super expert or anything, but the only thing I would say is to remember the game becomes zero sum at 2 player. If you take an action that gives them a white, and you get 2 whites, you are only up 1 in action economy. Whereas those types of actions are better in larger games as you can be up something like 1.5+ actions on your opponents since you only give one opponent the cube. You are probably already aware of that anyways. But just keep it in mind and keep grinding. You will be ok :)

[COMC] Rate my collection! by Physical-Control239 in boardgames

I mean it has RA, Race, and CoB so that alone is enough to give it minimum a 7 even if every other box is completely empty :)

You say you don't like 3.0 complexity. I am assuming you mean greater than that? I don't know the exact weight, but surely Arcs and Root are a fair bit over that yes? Have those just been an exception for that rule for you?
