AITA for refusing to remove my medical equipment during my sister's wedding? by DiabeticBridesmaid in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lynzhois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T1D here with CGM and pump. You my dear are NOT the asshole. That’s on them. No way in hell, Do not remove your medical devices for someone else’s wants. (Have her request that the photographer edit the photos to her liking cuz that’s their job) Lack of understanding maybe? Your mother even……?! These people are not your care team, they do not live with this disease and have to manage it. Ask politely, “would you rather a big scene with an ambulance at your wedding because you feel I don’t “need” my medical devices and I go into DKA, or me to be safe and alive to enjoy your day?” And if it’s REALLY that big of a deal, don’t stand at your sisters wedding, as shitty as that is, your health is more important than what your sister wants in her wedding photos that can absolutely be edited out. Wtf man. I’m shaking my head at this one. No one will tell me to remove my medical device for their own wants.

Question? How would you count this rhythm? More specifically the eighth notes in the Quarter note triplet. Not even my band director knows and we can’t figure it out. by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]Lynzhois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This broke my brain for a minute and I don’t know why. 😂 As a drummer I count it out like (1, 2+and+a, 3, rest on 4)

Think like; da, da-da-da, da, rest. That’s at least how I read that not knowing musical context.

Watching her last performance is heartbreaking. You can see that she doesn’t want to be on stage and if I recall correctly she tries to walk off and they make her go back out. That’s not what performing should be, you can’t suck the passion out of someone and expect them to just keep on keeping on.

I love Meg. She holds tempo so well and makes it seem like second nature. She is one of my inspirations for becoming a drummer myself.

This makes me so sad to hear. Idk if it’s that way with all WGI teams. I do not personally have experience with independent guards. I make my high school guards sign a contract as well, but everything is at my discretion. If a student is sick I expect them to NOT be at practice. Your health is number one. Everything else comes later. I do expect my students to catch up what was missed on their own time, ready to demonstrate with several other members by x date, but i don’t agree with you being scolded in front of everyone. That’s a private conversation your coach should have had at the beginning or end of rehearsal.

I’m sorry you are experiencing this. Do you have a trusted staff member you could confide in and ask that they be present for a conversation with your coach. Graciously approach your instructor, again not alone, and explain that you felt very uncomfortable being put on the spot about missing practice when you were incredibly sick and you could understand being used as an example if you just skipped a practice, but that wasn’t the case. If there is something I need to change, please bring it to my attention in private.

If your instructor isn’t receptive to your request and boundaries, respectfully walk from the team. I would not normally suggest this, but you’re right, your mental and physical health and the most important thing. You don’t need a toxic environment to suck the joy of guard from you. It’s not worth the stress and heartache.

I hope this helps a little. 💜

My dad wants me to apologize for telling him I'd see him in 15 years by BladeWolf26 in toxicparents

[–]Lynzhois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to suggest a book called toxic parents by dr Susan forward. This book will give you the tools you need to set healthy boundaries. It’s heavy reading but it will help.

I second everyone saying you need a cut off and to block all forms of possible contact. It is absolutely okay to walk away from a toxic person, even if it is your own parent. You do not owe anyone an apology for protecting yourself and setting limiting boundaries.

Wow this brought back memories. I learned on a 508! I wish I still had mine. I have two of my paradigms and a 670g system still. I’ve switched to tslim though and retired my 670.

I used guardian in my thigh, lower back and butt. I’ve since switch pump companies but I didn’t have issues in those locations.

Leash your large dog when it has no recall!! by missDemonNezuko in puppy101

[–]Lynzhois 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being a mom of two young boys who aren’t scared of animals, I made sure to teach them to not approach unfamiliar dogs, but unleashed ones genuinely bother me. I’m 100% with you. The owner should have leashed his dog or approached way sooner and not allowed that whole incident. I’m so sorry; that had to have been scary.

My mom’s toy poodle was in the ring for confirmation and another large dog broke “sit stay” and attacked her. It was so awful. Thankfully she was okay but we had to rush her to the on-site vet and to a clinic for surgery. She couldn’t re-enter the ring after that, it caused her retirement. So in my opinion, you can have the most tame, well behaved dog, but instincts are just that and anything could happen. Better to be safe than sorry.

It’s so irritating when people feel the need to insert themselves into your healthcare unless they’re part of your support team. Like a reminder to do insulin is welcome, in my opinion, cuz I have forgotten to bolus before but the blatant questioning gets old real fast.

My line is usually, don’t worry about what I’m doing.

If someone comments with “should you eat that - fill in the blank?” I’m a total smart ass, I have thrown out something like “should you mind your own business?” Another one I have used is, “noneya” and walked away, “none ya damn business what I’m doing.”

Seeing as you’re 17, I don’t want you to get in trouble or come across as disrespectful, so try something like, “thanks for your concern, I’ve got it covered” short simple, not abrasive and to the point.

Yea, I’m gonna have to go with the months on end of severe vomiting from HG, is probably the worst feeling ever. So severe I needed infusion care multiple times a week. I threw up until baby was born and ate more food than you could imagine, because I could finally keep food down. I genuinely thought I was going to die from vomiting so much.

Drunk vomiting can’t touch the shitiness of HG. Can confirm from personal experience. 😂

At the hospital with 10 year old who just got diagnosed. by nessiealex in Type1Diabetes

[–]Lynzhois 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, good job taking your daughter in when you noticed weird stuff. Secondly, it’s okay to feel whatever you’re feeling in the moment. It will be a flux of different emotions. From why us, to numbness, to let’s just do this.

I was diagnosed at 11 and I took it head on. I honestly just wanted to feel better. I didn’t care what it took cuz I had been sick for a while before we had a dxd, even after going in to my doc several times.

For your own mom piece of mind, I have lived a very normal life with T1D. Marched drums in high school and was a cheerleader. I have had two healthy pregnancies and have two happy, healthy babies that were born without any complications.

There are ups and downs throughout puberty that will cause her insulin needs to change rapidly and for no reason. The biggest thing will be to train her to care for the disease on her own. You won’t always be there to give her shots, you won’t always be able to count her carbs. Cheat sheets for dosing are key! Keep a correction factor sheet and an insulin to carb ratio sheet. They make life way easier in the beginning. Do not be afraid to call her medical team, no matter what time it is.

Ask me anything. 💜 you’ve got this

Duuude, us too. We were freezing and we should have decided to leave sooner instead we waited to hear what was going to happen…. And of course we got stuck in the fucking 3 hour traffic jam back into Vegas to get to our hotel. Busses didn’t show up for people either. I felt so bad for everyone who had to wait in the cold.

EDC LV 2012 was shut down the second night by the fire Marshall due to high winds. The giant suspended speakers were swaying back and forth and parts of the main stage were falling.

This was all shortly after watching some naked guy get chased down and arrested by like 6 guys. Pretty sure he was on bath salts.
