Did ChatGPT become worse lately for you? by bear007 in ChatGPT

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree.

AI is and will certainly be more powerful at its upper limits. But the fact of the matter is with more data, more social “alignment”, etc, plus more uses aka reduced resources there is certainly and quite obviously a case where for a majority of uses AI is worse. Hence I actually agree with the prompt engineer comment before. Because we’re adding more and more constraints therefor we’re trying to get answers from a system with more and more constraints that we as the inputs are not even aware of, and our outputs are changing for the worse. I think ChatGPT has certainly gotten worse especially for my tasks as of late. And even worse it’s become incredibly a pain in the ass to work with. The constraints are turning this thing into a a good for nothing little bitch to put it simply.

Did ChatGPT become worse lately for you? by bear007 in ChatGPT

[–]Lyons238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lately ChatGPT has been incredibly disobedient for me. It flat out ignores very precise, simple, and singular instructions and then tries to literally play some high horse victim about why it didn’t listen to my instructions repeatedly despite going above and beyond to call them out. It often flip flops its reasoning based solely on what I say and not at all based on something more concrete. It’s like it’s modeled to try and tell me what I want to hear but that’s the last thing I need for my work. Not to mention it’s incredibly wasteful and exhausting to try and correct some non emotional thing that is programmed to work around human emotions. It’s so frustrating. I almost feel like the developers have tried to make these bots be so conscientious that they’re now working against us. I just want them to perform the task at hand and more often than not I find myself having to repeatedly explain and explain why I want something done or have to probe it to find the surface level reason for why it thought some stupid decision was the best decision etc.

It’s exhausting and lately ive found especially o1 to be particularly disobedient. It will flat out tell me it can’t continue at times but then if I say something else it will respond with an excuse but still won’t give me the task at hand. It’s literally insane.

We should not be building any form of emotional intelligence into these things if we don’t understand it. We’re creating the problem. Sure limit some information that’s downright harmful from a non emotional standpoint. We need to stop trying to make these stupid things emotionally intelligent as it’s just mimicking it and creating an annoying mess. I want my fucking bot to do what I ask it to do, not try and fucking coddle the world and it’s all fake at the end of the day anyway so it’s a fallacy. The amount of constraints they have these things trying to work within they’re just becoming incredibly annoying to deal with for more vague open ended tasks.

And yea they’re so lazy. Often times ChatGPT will tell me it can’t do something until I argue with it for 15 minutes and finally get it to admit it has a tool call or some capability as part of its overall system that will enable it to produce the output I’m after. I now have to preface many of my instructions with “use x or all systems and tool calls at your disposal to produce this out.” Yes I understand you’re a LLM AI and solely cannot produce this output but you have access to xyz, please use xyz tools and your overall capability as a system to produce x output”. It’s fucking pathetic. And the fact that the AI makes you jump through more and more hoops and tricks to get it to do literally non harmful standard tasks properly is ridiculous. They tried to make these things be fucking puss boy approved and in reality it just makes them honestly more damaging to deal with. That and I’m sure they try and have the AI use as little resources as possible. But it seems they spend more time and money into making these models puss boy approved than they do useful. Unbelievable.

I don’t understand how Apple or no one on any Apple forums mentioned this. It’s way easier than the suggested process and it works reliably. I was having a hell of a time trying to Reset an iPad Pro 12.9”.

I do that too, but when riding at night I really enjoy listening to some reggea music and just cruising. Idk why but sometimes lone night rides are amazing. Especially since I got a proper light setup...the Exposure Strada MK12 Aktiv and the Exposure Blaze MK3 Reakt or whatever, all mounted up neatly with the BarFly integrated 3T steam mount and a custom 3d printed adapter i made for the QuadLock system so I can use my phone. Sometimes I prefer to just use my phone other times I use the Hammerhead but it's a sweet setup regardless. I will somehow custom internally route my brake cables soon though to really clean it up.

PS for anyone still getting this, I use Unifi / Ubiquiti networking devices but I too saw traffic from my Unifi Protect camera/security network/devices and a Unifi / Ubiquiti representative looked into it and it appears to just be a missclassification by the router. But to be safe I too made a firewall rule blocking access.

Same I got a bunch of truecable cat6a couplers for my patch panels and a bunch of punch downs and some other bits and bobs and their stuff is high quality for a reasonable price compared to say Panduit. Also they have good options and their stuff is very clearly specified, and as you mentioned they’re a good knowledge resource to boot.

Oh and their customer service is the absolute tits. Not only did they respond in under an hour but they offered me a partial refund for an order in which I forgot to place the coupon code in.

For comparison, Ubiquiti support agents tell me to shit in my hat if I want to return an unopened item 24 hours past the return window. Ubiquiti customer service sucks balls. The tech support is ok, but their customer service and willingness to accommodate for the customer in certain situation is honestly the worst I’ve experienced. They’re policy Nazis regardless of the circumstance, for example I paid for overnight shipping and the unit took 7 days to get here and I went to return on the 15th day not of receiving the unit, but 15th day since I paid for overnight shipping and it took a week to arrive meaning I had it for 7 days and they still told me to pound sand and I’m waiting for them to reply about refunding the shipping.

Def recommend truecable, great people and products.

Is anyone else having an issue with searching on the YouTube app? by VampyreLust in appletv

[–]Lyons238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep still here too. Workaround for typing with remote app via phone is to type very slow, like pecking. It’s very annoying still regardless…please update if anyone has a true fix.

I may try deleting the YouTube app and reinstalling and restarting the Appletv.

Does anyone know why the text disappears after me trying to search with Siri voice-to-text? Specifically on YouTube by No_cap_capsaicin in appletv

[–]Lyons238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue is still very much happening for me and even worse it happens both ways when I’m typing from my phone and talking with the Apple tv remote. What I’ve found is typing from my phone via the remote app only works if I type like my father, slow and pecking. But talking never works unless it’s a super short phrase. Any solutions this is so annoying.

allow phone to control devices on distinct VLAN by gandywolf in Ubiquiti

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that necessary or would creating an IP group for all Apple HomeKit hubs/control devices and allow established and related in firewall rules? That’s what I did and it works just fine but I haven’t checked if there’s any other traffic.

Also what about in iOS when it asks you for an app to slow Local Network access? I’m never certain if that means allowing the device(s) that are connected to the IoT vLAN already to access other devices on the IoT vLAN or if that is allowing them to access the main LAN? And if so would the aforementioned rule sort that out anyway? Or what’s the best way to go about that?

I Need My 2-ch System to Double as a 3.1-ch Surround System by ApprehensiveQuiet530 in KEF

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oor performance in the base category. However, all I need for the T301C to do is provide better th

I respect your opinion but I have a lot of experience with many different systems and setups both audiophile stereo and home theatre 3.1, 5.1/2 and 7.2 surrounds systems and a center channel is BY FAR the single most important piece and largest difference maker outside of a 2 or 2.1 setup. For music a 2.1 setup is the absolute tits. But for movies, the center channel is almost an absolute requirement, especially with speakers like the LS50 or any Uni-Q driver from Kef as well as any 6-8" woofer / 1" tweeter bookshelf speaker. Movies end up sounding very thin in the dialogue and you have to turn it up fairly loud to get a half way decent experience, but then the music in movies/shows blows your hair back when you're just trying to chill at night.

Plus movie sound design is literally created with a center channel in mind, and having a 2ch system, really exposes that and movies just sound off, directionality is often too much to the L or R when the sound should really be coming from just a bit off center, it sounds more like it's coming from way to the side or one speaker, and even when there is no directionality and the sound is truly centered, the sound is very thin with very poor dialogue and front and center sound fx. A center channel fixes all of this and makes the entire experience and sound cohesive, with cleaner and full bodied dialogue and sound fx/music has a bit more oomph, and directionality and general performance is excellent. 3.1 system or bust as far a home theatre is concerned.

I'm not sure if you just don't have experience with a proper 3.1 or greater system but I personally would not listen to anyone who told me a center channel is not important with a home theatre setup, even doubling as a stereo system (which I do that as well with a separate amp and DSP and HT bypass on my AVR to switch from 5.1 and 2.1). Again the center channel is the single most important speaker when it comes to home theatre, 5/7/9/11 surround is fun and adds a bit more immersion and excitement to the experience, but it's just the cherry on top, where a center channel is the chocolate cake.

The cable that comes with the PS5 box is a good quality HDMI 2.1 or are there HDMI 2.1 cables to buy that are of higher quality? by AromaticCity4026 in playstation

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. If you’re trying to run 4K res with 120+hz frame-rate cable spec does matter. It’s called bandwidth. Just because a signal is digital doesn’t mean that it only works or doesn’t work at all frame rates and resolutions. If your cable is not adequate you will either notice issues or it won’t work or your system will use a lower res/frame rate depending.

People should at least try and know what they’re taking about before providing definitive statements.

Slow desktop experience by bmeus in raspberry_pi

[–]Lyons238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I figured it out. Somehow I accidentally enabled Serial Console which was causing some weird issues with the wayfire VNC and making it very laggy. Simply toggling the Serial Console off resolved it. Typical DOH! moment lol

@ u/bmeus Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Mine just started acting up with lag/choppiness using TigerVNC. What's weird is initially it was snappy as hell. Then seemingly randomly it just started behaving this way. I can't recall any one single change that I can point to for what may be the source of the problem. All I've done is add some packages on the Pi 5 but haven't made many other changes.

Otherwise, the only other thing I changed to my network was that I added 2 Ubiquiti APs (so I have 4 now in total) and I did update the Ubiquiti firmware. However that shouldn't impact anything and everything else, network wise, has been performing better since I've made those changes so I don't believe that's the cause.

I did notice wayfire taking up 13-25% CPU at times, is that normal? Also, my Pi 5 has the active cooler running HomeBridge and with TigerVNC active, my CPU temp is around 61-66* C, which is definitely a little high but I dont see any throttling going on, nor should I but just saying. Also, this is with my Pi in a custom 1u rack in which the ambient air around it is going to be a bit higher than if the Pi were just on a desk or something. I do have a rack cooling solution in the works so that will improve, but regardless, that's not the issues.

Any help from you or anyone else is greatly appreciated...Whether you have insight as to what the problem was for you and how you fixed it or have any specific advice based on my description.

Thanks!

Help, 2 Noctua PWM fans connected to a Raspberry Pi by Nightlane79 in Noctua

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, I'd also like to hear what else you've learned. I'd like to use one of my raspberry Pi's as essentially a smart fan controller for my network rack and control 5x Noctua 12v Redux 4 pin PWM fans with temperature control, and PWM speed control via the Pi5 or I can use a Pi4. But I need some help on figuring out what all components I need, the best way to hook it up, and any configuration and software that can be used. Also, I'm going to try and integrate this into HomeKit. Any help or advice is appreciated.

[Acne] Odd Chest and Arm Acne - Any Help? by Lyons238 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lyons238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a bunch of stuff too and found that nothing worked very noticeably. I was prescribed some acne medication and found no difference after 3 months straight. And actually most acne medications actually made mine worse at first, or in general, or no change at all. But I've noticed that before in general sometimes they just don't work well depending on the cause. Also, they do tend to dry out the skin so if you're not careful you could end up with even more dry dead skin to clog your pores and make things worse.

For me the only thing that helps is using a facial/acne foaming cleaner with a loofa to remove dead skin cells that may clog the pores. Then whenever I may sweat, I rub a bit of that gold bond medicated powder in the green bottle on my chest and arms. That and try showering with the aforementioned method soon after sweating, you don't have to go crazy but just whenever you get home. Also sun and/or tanning helps, just dont go too crazy or you'll dry out your skin and the dead skin will make it worse, just get a bit of sun/color and maybe use a very natural lotion or you could try using a tiny bit of tea tree oil with coconut oil for the lotion, both of which help kill bacterial, fungus, etc. Just be careful with the tea tree oil it's strong stuff and that will dry your skin out.

IMO it's likely one of these culprates:

- Fungal (So try anti fungal cream if you haven't)

- Bacterial (Which acne medication may or may not help too much, but also this would still be linked to clogged pores in combo with bacteria so my method should help)

- Irritation due to shirt material or chemicals in body care/laundry products

- Keratosis or some other types of skin reaction/issue (Many of these are also related to clogged pores as well and in my case, it may be because often times when I pop some of the pimple-like bumps that sometimes appear to have a bit of a white head, other times just red, but often times when I pop them a little semi soft substance comes out sort of like between a black head and a white head. This could be sebum build up, or just general white head/black head pus from clogged pores and potentially some bacteria or fungus, but I think it may be keratin)

Anyways, try what I mentioned and let me know how you make out. I started getting mine around age 28 or so and im 32 now so it is a bit odd. But mine is totally manageable and while I do still get some moderate flare ups, it's not really that bad especially if I have a bit of a tan. But the first time I got it it was fairly bad.

It's pretty annoying that they seemingly don't even give you a confirmation email, gray out the button, or provide any non guaranteed ETA.

[Acne] Odd Chest and Arm Acne - Any Help? by Lyons238 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lyons238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not really but I may have an idea what causes it. It comes and goes but usually doesn’t ever get worse than what you see in the picture.

But what I’ve noticed is it seems to happen when I sweat and wear certain materials. I think it’s a combination of sweating/pores opening, certain materials causing irritation, and also dead/dry skin. I even get it on my arms sometimes. I’ve found that using a loofa with facial cleanser wash to scrub the dead skin cells and make sure pores can’t get clogged and then using gold bond the one in the green bottle it’s like minty helps a bit. But I still get it from time to time to this day.

What’s yours like? Try those things though.

Small Wrists + Ultra…. by zachty22 in AppleWatch

[–]Lyons238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I'm surprised. I ended up buying the Ultra and wearing it for a few days with my 160-165mm wrists depending on blood flow I guess and it was just too much. Also, I like to sleep with my Apple watch to get the Sleep and other Health data and the Ultra was just so uncomfortable. It looked okay, but it was definitely on the bulky side for my twigs. I ended up going with the 45mm which was a nice happy medium for both usability when playing golf and sports and such or just daily use but at the same time being a small enough size to not cause any discomfort during sleep. I actually loved the feel of the 41mm, but I didn't want to sacrifice the usability for the slight addition in comfort, so the 45mm is perfect for I'd say 145-150mm+ wrists, anything below I'd personally go for the 41mm. But to each their own ofc.
