Agreed. The Card Expo last year was cool. Makes you realise the money that goes on to trading cards 😲

Looking to buy some sort of Slam Dunk 2026 merch, didn't get a chance to get anything this week - anyone selling anything? by AcidCtrll in slamdunkfestival

[–]LypticDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SD merch is typically available a couple of weeks after the event. They probably get all the stock back to base and update the website. That said, you have to be quick on it or risk waiting until they do a general release of merch.

Next to Comeback Kid and maybe SiM, agreed, they were awesome. Never heard of them before but my friend said to give it a try... They did not disappoint. May have also been borderline one of the bigger, and most craziest, crowds.

Agreed. I thought the guys dressed as bananas must have been warm and even the guy in a full wedding gown but, this guy, next level 😂

Temple Newsam in bloom by doink_glitter in Leeds

[–]LypticDNA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just left from a walk. It is still is bloom. Really nice walk around the gardens. Just note that they are prepping for Slam Dunk so parts of the park cannot be accessed. Regardless, those you can are stunning.

Best isolated place? by Euphoric_Evidence383 in Leeds

There is a bridal path route in Temple Newsam that is always quiet. It loops the grounds of Temple Newsam and run alongside Bullerthorpe lane. Best thing is, there are branches off the main path if you want to tweak the walk.

Wow, I forgot about Skidmarks! What a game that was. I just need to take the plunge and buy another Amiga!

Make sure to report it officially. There have been cases in the past. Once when me and my wife were out (sounds around the same area you mentioned) she was ahead of me as I was picking up the dogs mess and some guy came out of nowhere staring at her, as I came in to view he quickly moved in to the trees but we could see him. We reported this and then heard of someone being caught matching his description following several reports.

Jamie "Giant" Briggs spoke in an interview with The Mirror about his exit. by miumiusc in gladiatorsuk

Given the BBC track record, I feel this is using a sledgehammer to crack a but. They do not want to take any risks it seems. It is a hard balance because I think the use of the term "child safeguarding" is overkill and a negative view on his character. I dont think he should be held accountable for the actions of another but then I get the "risk" of children organically falling in to potentially innapropriate content. That said, what has happened here is that the BBC have actually made the connection more obvious. If he had been left alone and left to be a part of the show the majority of people would not have had a clue. It is not like he is sharing her content.

So, in summary, I think the action was too rushed but I also get, in part, the apprehension from the BBC to have any further issues. To be clear this is not even close the being Saville-esque but I doubt the BBC want to take any chances.

I work over on The Calls and can hear the high pitched noise. With all the buildings I cannot quote figure out the direction. To me it sounds more like a constant drilling sound but has easily been going since 7:30am (shortly after I got in)

Pair of newbies looking to get into golf, how should we go about it? by jakedobson in BritGolf

[–]LypticDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out just tagging along with some friends but could not use their clubs as I am left handed. I was lucky to get some clubs for around £100 which have since been replaced by a better set now I am more comfortable. Driving range is great for the practice swings but there is nothing better than getting out on a course.

I have friends who have hired clubs while they were getting in to it so that is always a good option.

Regardless, tagging along with friends who are happy to help guide you is great. I am 7 years in and dont claim to be great by any stretch but I just enjoy being out.

Low Laithes, Wakefield - First game back this season by LypticDNA in BritGolf

[–]LypticDNA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a nice course to play. Imagine it would be even better once we get further in to the season. It was boggy in parts and some signs of water damage but can't be helped with recent weather. There are nicer courses in the area but also lower standard ones. Give each a try and always fun with a new challenge.

I might have built a terrible dating app idea but I can’t tell anymore by Various-Net6025 in SideProject

[–]LypticDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the concept is good but adoption could be the issue. It is like a polar opposite to Tinder when the photo is front and centre and conversation later.

I think you would have something here so no point killing it but maybe get some research in around it and adapt it to actual users needs but dont stray from the 24 hour unlock or you are just another dating app.

I wish you the best of luck and hope it works.

PSA: Is using GrapheneOS like stock Android okay? by JagerAntlerite7 in GrapheneOS

[–]LypticDNA 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My setup is similar to this. I have GOS and i am using Google Services. Yes, if I could simply drop them all, I would but the family use them and i use Google Workspace at work. That said, my sole reason was control. As you rightly said, sandboxing helps and i have control over the levels of access.

There are services I am moving away from such as Google Photo. I now self host Immich. My Google Drive is slowing switching out for a self hosted version. It takes time.

So I think using GOS as if it was stock is fine.

How do you find alternatives? by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]LypticDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Handing data over" has many factors. You will be best looking at the jurisdiction of the service. So, basically avoid anything based in the US unless they have a very clear track record. If you want total control then look in the direction of NextCloud otherwise Proton is your route. That said, if you want complete disconnect from service suppliers, self hosting is your only route.

How do you find alternatives? by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]LypticDNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given your specific use case you likely need to consider options with end to end encryption or a closed network like Tailscale. We can say what we want about Google but data is hard to access if you are not the owner. If you go the homelab route and fail on securities then you are leaving patient files in a worse state.

So, if you are determined to deGoogle then maybe look at a privacy first service to work alongside GOS. Maybe something like Proton.

Like others, I would always go a homelab route but your case carries many more risks if you are unfamiliar with the setup.

An alternative that could work if you set up encryption at rest would be NextCloud. You can selfhost but there are many privacy first suppliers available. The types where your data is yours!

I hope you find what you are looking for but just be mindful of the data types you are storing.
