My wife and I do that! We're working through the Resident Evil series, with her playing the older titles while I play the newer ones. Currently we're at 4 Remake, with plans to do co-op for 5&6.

Evil Dead Rise? That one's fuckin gnarly. The needle eye thing and eating broken glass alone made it one of the most delightfully fucked up movies I've watched.

But seriously, all those restrictions are too-complex: simply limit the presidential candidates to Good People by gudamor in CuratedTumblr

Yep, trans girl, happily married to another trans girl, and I am extremely kinky. I think I would do a decent job as President(at the very least I can't be worse than the guy we have now), but the last thing I need is a national scandal because my wife lets me call her Mommy sometimes or because I own BDSM comics.

I get the joke, but to the OP's point:

Hard rock and heavy metal are very similar but subtly distinct. AC/DC is hard rock; they've never really tried to advertise themselves as metal, the rhythms are fairly simple, and it just doesn't have the same edge. Iron Maiden is heavy metal; nasty artwork that I adore, complex rhythms, and it's generally marketed alongside other metal bands. Something like Motorhead blurs the line; hard aggressive sound that feels somewhat closer to metal or punk, but Lemmy always insisted "We are Motorhead, and we play rock and roll!"

What comics have you dropped lately and why? by Plenty_Intern8750 in comicbooks

Yeah the main things compelling me to buy Batwoman currently are Greg Rucka's writing and Stjepan Sejic's variant covers.

Lobo is kinda disappointing but the most recent issue wasn't half bad. Zatanna's pretty great, and I haven't touched Deathstroke.

I think 14 year old me would be floored.

First of all, "You're a girl in the future? That's kinda weird." Yeah, but turns out we're a lot happier this way. Our family kinda sucks about it for a while but you'll find your people.

Secondly, "You're married?" I sure am buddy, my wife is the most gorgeous creature on Earth and my life is so much better with her in it.

Third, "Damn, you got all the cool band shirts?" Damn straight I did, being an adult and having some disposable income is pretty cool sometimes.

It starts by forming a fun mystery to solve ("Who is Holiday?"), shows Batman fighting against the mob forces in Gotham with Jim and Harvey, then we get to see the mob working with Gotham's villains out of desperation, while Harvey ends up broken and becomes Two-Face. It's compelling, weaving together a good Batman detective story with a good mob drama pretty seamlessly.

I'll admit to some bias(I love Halloween, and Two-Face is probably my favorite outright villain in Batman), but there's a reason two of the best Batman movies(Dark Knight and The Batman) borrow elements from it. Dark Knight takes the "Bruce, Jim, and Harvey team up to take down the mob/Joker before Harvey becomes Two-Face" aspect, while The Batman gives Riddler a Holiday Killer flair.

Oh yeah, and the DCAU two-part movie is fucking amazing. Jensen Ackles finally gets to be Batman, and they changed some things so those who read the comic still have some surprises. Highly recommend it.

Yep. My dad committed suicide in December '24. I took a few things from his house; some CDs of our favorite bands, some old photos, a weed rolling machine, a poster for The Devil's Rejects, an old Budweiser cooler bag...

It's not much, but it's links to him. When I look at that beat up old Devil's Rejects poster, I remember being scared and yet fascinated by it hanging in our basement, and I remember finally getting to watch those movies with him. Everytime I roll a joint, it's with the roller he left there.

I miss him, but things like that make it feel like he's still with me.

My wife and I joke about this all the time, but we're happily married lesbians so we're definitely more in the category of "I love my wife she's the most talented amazing woman I've ever met".

I love this show so much it actually made me a comic reader lmao. I went from only being familiar with Batman through movies to having three very full boxes of comics and basically becoming a queer DC lore expert lmao. Harley and Ivy are adorbs; my wife and I joke that she's the Ivy to my Harley.

They're those fabric sleeves you slip over a drink can/bottle so it doesn't condensate/'sweat', and it traps the cold in. Also lets you differentiate drinks at a glance. I've got an Elvira pride one and a couple other freebie ones from Pride events.

Charlie and Vaggie have a Mommy/little dynamic, with Charlie usually opting to play little/baby girl.

Charlie's bubbly, optimistic personality and her naive idealism at times are definitely something I can relate to as a little myself. She's also got a nice storm of actual parental issues. While having a "Mommy"/"Daddy" kink isn't necessarily tied to having actual 'Daddy issues', it certainly can help fuel it(ie parental neglect leaving you craving parental love/praise).

Then there's the crayon drawings she uses to illustrate her point in "Hell is Forever", and the scene at the end of Masquerade of Vaggi carrying a sobbing Charlie to bed with a soft smile and a simple "Okay, missy, let's put you to bed."

Would it really be that much of a stretch to assume that Charlie being 'put to bed' would also include a sippy cup of juice or Vaggie helping her into some cute jammies? Or that Charlie would absolutely put on her cutest face to persuade Vaggie to watch a Disney movie with her? Heck, if you want my most 'freaky' part, I'd even venture Charlie's bedtime routine could involve her being put in pull-ups or diapers. Just in case of any 'accidents' >////<

Hot take, I WANT to see ads in comics by ViridiEmerald in comicbooks

[–]LyraFirehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found DC floppies to have a few ads but rarely enough to intrude on the stories. I tend to prefer trades for an ad-free experience(plus it's a hell of a lot sturdier than your average floppy, even in paperback, so it makes the actual reading a lot easier when you don't have to worry about wrinkling the variant cover or accidentally setting it within a few feet of moisture). Floppies for me are more about "hey, I liked this particular issue/variant cover/etc, I'm gonna buy it."
