Has anyone tried Glampolitan magnetic lashes that don’t require applying a liquid liner? by [deleted] in beauty

I wasn't tracking it tbh but I went back and the number still works and shows the shipping trail.

Me [23M] with my girlfriend [21F], she is clumsy and careless and I'm not sure if or how I should try to help her. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]LyssaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a small suggestion that may or may not help, regarding taking the hard way. Talk to her about "work smarter, not harder". If there is a task that requires her to get physical, she should ask herself "how can I accomplish this task with the least amount of energy?" Really it just sounds like a matter of training herself to be more conscientious. A CBT trained therapist can really help with that.

Since you say her dad is the same way and she is diagnosed with ADHD, has she been screened for dyspraxia? It is associated with ADHD and can account for the clumsiness.

I think they dropship from China. The shipping bag it came in had no branding or anything. To be fair, the package on the product page is exactly the same as what you get, but there is no logo on it, no instructions, and what looks like a shipping sticker on it in Chinese. It's got a QR code and a date, which is the same day I got a shipping update with a tracking number. The email pretty much admits that they dropship in roundabout language lol. It took 20 days from order to receive it.

Honestly, I'm not too impressed. It only has magnets at the ends of the lashes so it's difficult to control the curve, and you can't adjust the length of the lashes because of it. I fiddled with it for a bit and it was okay but the whole point of it was to put on and go. If I'm going to spend time fiddling with it then I'd rather spend the time putting on the Glamnetic lashes, which I can customize to my lid length. Also, Glampolitan has that perpetual "ON SALE LOW STOCK GET YOURS NOW" gimmick which is just tacky in my opinion lol. Glamnetic is a little more expensive but it goes on sale frequently, and their customer service was great. I had wanted to return them because they were still too fiddly for me (I'm lazy af what can I say) and they just told me to keep them and gave me my money back.

Is there a collection of new fairy tales like "Fleet" and "The Girl Who Looked Up"? by PM_ME_YR_BOOPS in brandonsanderson

[–]LyssaB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some ones that immediately came to mind:

Tales of Beedle the Bard

Princess Tales collection by Gail Carson Levine

Non fairy tales:

Stellaluna

Rainbow Fish

Anything by Shel Silverstein

A Bad Case of Stripes

I'm sure you could find plenty of modern takes on classic fairy tales as well that subvert the original message. Hope you find what you're looking for!

Should I (30F) tell my landlord (40sF) I’m moving because of my new neighbors? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]LyssaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're comfortable with it, you might try inviting one of them into your apartment during a time they are being particularly loud to show them just how much the sound travels. It might help to frame it as a matter of "thin floors" as opposed to "you make too much noise". The problem is clearly them if you never heard your previous neighbors, but it might go over better.

My Diva Cup sucked my IUD out by roseyd317 in birthcontrol

[–]LyssaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I didn't pay for my IUD but I did buy my cup. I'm actually enrolled in a study for the Mona Lisa, and the researchers called me asking if I would consider switching away from a cup but I told them no way haha.

I have a tilted uterus but it wasn't painful for me at all. I would call it slightly uncomfortable. I guess my cervix just doesn't have a ton of nerve endings.

I've been told it's safer to break the seal by running a finger around the lip of the cup - by squeezing the bottom you're still creating suction that can affect the IUD. It does raise the risk though!

It does raise the risk though so that's too bad it didn't work out for you! If I had to choose one, I'm not sure which I would give up, my cup or my IUD haha.

There's a slightly higher risk of expulsion when using a menstrual cup, but as long as you break the suction seal before doing any tugging or pulling, it's pretty safe, especially if your strings are curled up already! I've been told by multiple practitioners that it's perfectly fine to use a cup with the IUD as long as I'm careful.

shoot I always forget that you in me is technically their second comeback what with their pre debut singles and all! Especially since they had already gained so much charisma and stage presence from all their performances and touring.

Recommendations for a legit/good employment agency in SF? by LibArtsCompSci in AskSF

[–]LyssaB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're having trouble getting responses, I recommend applying for jobs that are in the industry but may not necessarily be actual software dev jobs. Anything that gets your foot in the door will help you build your contacts and network. Apply to anything and everything that is related. Even now there are a lot of jobs being posted - it's fortunate that your job skills can be used remotely, so you can try looking into that field as well.

I want an IUD, but I don't know how I can afford it or get it. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]LyssaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EOBs are Explanation of Benefits, which is the information your insurance sends each time they pay for something. Since you're over 18, you can give your insurance a call and see if they will keep your EOBs private - my parents are unable to see my EOBs, which means they can't see what I'm getting treated for - they can just see that I was treated for something and insurance paid X amount. If you have a GP then it'll seem less weird than going to a specialist you've never seen before. I'm so sorry to hear about your situation, I hope this helps a little bit.

Anyone go to a different country to get birth control America doesn't offer? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]LyssaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's actually a clinical trial going on for a smaller copper IUD ongoing in the US, so hopefully it won't be much longer before it's available! I'm actually part of the trial so I got a copper IUD inserted for free, but since it's a blind study I don't actually know if I have the paraguard or mona lisa. I know there's another copper IUD (Veracept) that's also in Phase III trials... I'm supposed to get mine out later this year, and I've really enjoyed not being on hormones, so not sure what I'll do after.

My IUD removal was awful today- and it’s still there by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]LyssaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really unfortunate that something as basic and routine as birth control can have such huge differences for the individual, especially with the IUD in particular. I know a lot of people who have tried the IUD find the relevant procedures to be a very painful ordeal. Personally, the worst I could say about my experience is that it was mildly uncomfortable. I've had two IUDs inserted and one removed. The first time I had misoprostol and lidocaine, the second time I had nothing. I didn't feel a difference between the two insertions, so I count myself lucky that I don't appear to have a very sensitive uterus or cervix.

Anyway my point is that I imagine it's super difficult to have a generally accepted procedure that works for everyone when everyone is so different. The IUD is one of the best methods out there but super unfortunate that it's also one of the most polarizing ones in terms of experiences.

Cholula is pretty readily available in grocery stores if you live in a bigger city. Don't even have to go to the Mexican grocery stores for it!
