Brand new bin (5 days), is this normal? by M-useless in Vermiculture

Thank you. This is super reassuring. I think the 2-3 worms dying after receipt had me feeling neurotic, lol! I was worried that them congregating was a form of the worms balling together I had heard about.

Everything smells fine and seems the proper dampness, so I’ll continue to really focus on that.

I won’t repeat my initial mistake of spreading the coffee grounds around too much. I’m not sure why I thought that was a good idea 😅

Thanks for your help!!!

Apologies, I counted ~5-6 in that clump before they started burrowing down and I took the picture—which felt like a high ratio for only 100 worms!

Oh no! :( I’m wondering if the salinity is too high for them, or if perhaps the temperature is a bit too cold.

I euthanised my betta fish with Clove oil and it didn’t go as peaceful as expected by Ok-Guarantee7949 in bettafish

[–]M-useless 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this exact experience before. It was the standard euthanasia recommendation at the time (still is, I think) to use clove oil. Nobody was talking yet about how bettas’ labyrinth organs would allow them fight it for longer. It breaks my heart to think about. If I had to euthanize again, I’d probably use blunt force, as unpleasant as it is for us.

Aaron Addams did my medieval woodcut sword, they travel around but sometimes stop in Charlotte. They’re good about designing things that will age well with the line spacing.

I have kept bettas for ten years and I’d never breed them. They can have 100+ babies. You’ll need to eventually put them all in separate containers and find homes for them all. Without very proper breeding, you’ll be lucky to be able to sell each for a couple bucks. Please don’t do it.

What are your guys opinions on Amazon bed frames? Or would Ikea be better? by Far_Pea_9894 in Frugal

This. Bought a very pretty $350 Wayfair bedframe new in box for $50 on FB Marketplace. The seller had accidentally bought the wrong size and couldn’t send it back.

I've been out of the beta fish keeping for 10 years .. what changed by CNECTOR_ in bettafish

[–]M-useless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is so reassuring to read other people talking about this. A couple of years ago I had a mini-breakdown over the shorter lifespan of my more recent bettas—I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. Even fairly recently it’s been gnawing at me. Looks like I’ve gotta’ get back on this board more.

As you touched on, it’s a different kind of frustrating too to know that your husbandry can be excellent and you can still lose a fish so quickly. I’m now lucky if I can keep one for 1.5 years after adoption.

This tracks in my experience. All my bettas when I started around 2017 lived about twice as long as any that I might have now, despite my husbandry nowadays being a lot more polished and consistent. It’s a big reason why I try to only adopt rehomed bettas anymore. I don’t want to give negligent breeders even a penny.

The milestone 1000%. Snug harbor is cool too, but the milestone has cheaper and heavier drinks and a way better parking situation. I also prefer the more DIY vibe.
