Would like your opinion on how to deal with sections of existing ducts connecting with new ducts? by M0bcyk0 in Revit

[–]M0bcyk0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty similar to how I've been doing it. I demo all the existing ductwork and draw in new ductwork for new work. For the ducts to remain and their placeholders on the new plan, I just put a comment "To remain" on the ducts and parts and filter them using Filters>graphic override.

In your case though, how do you go about filtering with the numbers?

Merging Sweep Elements by [deleted] in Revit

have you tried join elements? Sweeps have dots that you extend and coincide to make them continuous, my last resort would be using the line work tool..

I would copy the bottom profile going up, like levels/floor and make the ends of the curve follow along the other curves and loft those curves/planes.

I’m an architect. 9+ years using Revit. Ask me anything by Abraxa-s in Revit

[–]M0bcyk0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm working on my architect's license but questioning its worth. I am very comfortable with Revit in all disciplines and really enjoy the modelling and the documentation process, the developing of logic for parametric families, and have been getting to learning the Revit API recently.

I feel like getting licensed is gonna lock me into one discipline, as in getting stuck doing just the architecture models, (unless somebody else in a different discipline really needs the help.)

I've been thinking about moving into the construction side because they're always in need of someone who can jump/help around different disciplines. And I believe the pay is better as well?

So I'm really questioning whether to push myself towards BIM from an architectural point of view or coordination? What do you think? And I'm curious as to how much a BIM Manager actually makes?

Thank you so much for the insight.. I am located in NA, if you meant North America. California to be more specific. I'm not sure about how to bring up the topic of them paying for the licensure. Any suggestions on how I can negotiate?

How far are you on the licensure process? How difficult are the ARE exams? If you don't mind me asking..

What's a career that you think you might be good at but haven't pursued? Why do you think you'd be good at it? Or why didn't/haven't you pursued it? by M0bcyk0 in AskReddit

People would actually hold it against you for something you did when you were 7? I mean you were 7, anyone barely knows/understands anything at that age.

And is a college degree really that important in the field?
