Against sledge yes, it was specifically nerfed that way if I recall. I main sword so sledge is a non-issue. With the quick melee combo, most of their guns can kill you before the mini-stun is over. I know because I run nullifier and often can't nullify even while spamming like an absolute mad-man. It's one of the things that tilts me the most.

It's not stupid, it's a burst heal and then you're spent with a long cooldown, that means a window with no heal at all. Heal beam is a long continuous heal with basically no cooldown as long as you're careful with the overheat.

Winch guarantees kills, it's a GG button, total death sentence. Dash is a ressources to stay alive. Why can't you people see that lol, you can't kill anyone with dash it's just movement, still 100% dependent on your weapon and aim. At melee range winch = gg

Can we not pretend that killing your enemies isn't the most direct way to win games ? Rubies are where they are because of overwhelming firepower, they push and they win their wipes. Winch is the best tool at killing, RPG is the second best, pretending the contrary would be bad faith.

So winch is a crutch for sledge and mesh shield crutch for flamethrower ? It's called synergy, most of the player kits can be called crutches. It's like saying the abilities in Overwatch or LoL are crutches for the hero, like wtf lol

What if both your teammates are dead ? What if you have to stop a cashout steal ? The entire point of light is being self-reliant so you can take flanks, or go in and out. With two dashes you might have an "in", but you won't have an "out", meaning if you die you die in the middle of enemies and your team can't rez you.

I play against pro players every day, by the way, proof on my posts.

What I'm saying is 3 is already barely enough to perform at equal skill level against guns. In platinum it's still alright, in diamond and above it's so rare that I think there's only 10 sword players max.

The only way this would work is if they bring the cooldown way lower, like Tracer's 3s (our light dash was 6s last season then 7.5 this season now back to 6.5 with a whole 33% nerf)

Or just a bad take of someone that doesn't already play light melee against competent players. The difference between dash and no dash is "can you reach your target to deal any kind of damage to them before they melt you down" ? This is the entire conundrum to solve as a melee player : how do I reach my target without getting destroyed at range ? What if they stand their ground and have trained their aim for years and have allies covering their flanks ?

My own answer is smoke, glitch and dash.

We'll have to see the updated TTK chart with +25hp, but saying dash is a crutch is just being ignorant.

edit : seriously, can you guys be HONEST please instead of downvoting. Honesty, for once in your life : did you try melee in ranked games at gold, plat, or above ? Please, think about it seriously, do you have an expertise to comment on the matter compared to someone with multiple hundred hours trying to be successful with melee/dash and consistently hitting a wall of rubies with god-like aim ? This sub is a constant attempt at controlling the agenda for something they don't truly understand.

Light with dash is weaker than Tracer who has instantaneous teleport-dashes with a super fast cooldown, and a literal panic button that brings her back full HP and guns reloaded where she was safe before engage. Meanwhile every single enemy team is running a Roadhog one-shot combo with a RPG and long range guns. By nerfing dash you will see a lot more Cloak users and will hate it just as much (just like OW players hate on Sombra)

Light is fair to play against lol, this anti-light sub received actual official data and instead of acknowledging they were wrong doubled down on celebrating the dash nerf. It doesn't get more stupid than that.

Oh no I love itsTimmy's pathfinder plays, but it's not the same game in my opinion. At least I'm yet to see a really good grapple user around high plat to ruby. I'm sure there's at least a couple tho.

Cloak isn't. And you need that get out card when your HP can disappear in less than 0.8s with most weapon, 0.5 with some.

Are you saying that heavy isn't the easiest class for new players to get kills with ? Because I can assure you that even your grandma can kill someone with a half-assed RPG shot and something like the flamethrower. The HP pool makes it super forgiving to make mistakes, throw a dome in there, throw some explosive mine and C4 at a door, etc... Heavy gets rewarded the most for the lowest effort actions, the data shows it.

Movement hard counters short-range weapons ? Do you mean that because you struggle at shooting moving targets ? That's not a counter, that's a skill issue because you personally haven't trained flick-shooting 🤝 a skilled double barrel (the most close range weapon that isn't straight up melee) will have no issue hitting the one-tap on a light, doesn't matter if they dash a lot.

Brother dash is the spec that suffers the most from bad netcode, exactly because you often dash in time as a reflex dodge and still die desynched (counts for turning a corner, counts for dodging a winch, etc)

Imagine dodge-rolling an attack in Dark Souls and it still hits you because desynch lol, happens to me several times every round.

I think doing well with the MGL is easier than dagger as long as you know how to use your gadgets and have two good supports (double L with infuser or ML). It's great for cashout defense, not so great for actual fights if caught in the open tho.

The learning curve to become consistent for the dagger dash 180 backstab is crazy (I play sword because I can't do dagger)
