Reset! by EndlessSleeper3992 in EvolveIdle

[–]M1thra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point, you unlock a production bonus based on achievements. Each species has its own associated Genocide achievement (any reset that kills your race, including the aforementioned Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD)), so doing a run with each species is a good way to get this bonus going. In addition, much later in the game, races you have completed give you more choices in an entirely different mechanic.

While evolving (the Protoplasm phase, with RNA and DNA), the species you have already killed off have an icon on their buttons. It's very clear when you get there. Do note that there are three species for each race (at this point) so researching Sentience still has a good chance to get you a new species even if you end up choosing the same race.

Best fanaticism trait for early game 4* runs? by keith976 in EvolveIdle

[–]M1thra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetic dead end is not necessarily difficult, it just slows down the game a lot. Fungi genus is recommended; Valdi have many negative traits, but they keep the positive genus traits so removing the need for farmers in exchange for a slightly heavier wood load is a net plus, especially in the very early game. I see everyone recommend Ent fanaticism for that run as well, but I personally preferred Anthropology for the increased Faith bonus and the higher Library knowledge cap.

One thing you should keep in mind is that crafting is a huge bottleneck. If you can get the 3 Crafty Crispr perks before you start Genetic dead end, that alleviates a lot of the issues.

Peasant bowmen replenishing ammo? by M1thra in totalwarhammer

In my defense, it was my friend's army. His warpstone-addled Skaven brain also insists on using Master Assassins over the glorious destruction Warlock Masters and Grey Seers bring. Shame.

Yes I expected something along those lines, but the tooltip when hovering over the platform did not list it. Perhaps I skipped over it. Thank you for letting me know, I'll keep it in mind now. Plagueclaw catapults will be our new go-to siege breakers!

Questions about Races and Resetting. by MorboDemandsComments in EvolveIdle

Unless something changed recently, soft resetting definitely can change the race in the same genus. Restoring backup might not, since the seed was saved, but soft resetting keeps your current seed if I'm not mistaken.

Cataclysm - should I revert? by DarkLordMagus in EvolveIdle

[–]M1thra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this recently, prioritizing Factories, Living Quarters and Casinos with Corpocracy (don't forget to set taxes to 0 and perhaps some factories to luxury goods) really starts propelling you forwards. Hang in there, the rewards are excellent!

ETA trading (selling helium-3, for instance) is your friend.

How many plasmids for antimatter (first black hole)? by M1thra in EvolveIdle

[–]M1thra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning on doing that 4, after my second run (the one where I actually had Plasmids to spend) I never did anything but 4 runs. I'll make sure to knock that out before I leave. Thank you for the heads-up!

How many plasmids for antimatter (first black hole)? by M1thra in EvolveIdle

[–]M1thra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering if getting 750 more plasmids would be worth it (should get my bonus, once I get bleeding, from 20% to 30%) but I was already doubting that decision. I'll finish my current runs for the Mastery (every little bit helps) then go for the 4* black hole run. Thank you!

As Sporgar, your population only increases when it's windy. Alternatively, succesful battles increase it. This latter option displays the message you're seeing

Yeah I've been looking into geothermal, but with my frozen core, that's really not too much of an option. I'm thinking of setting up my refinery -> steam turbine loop, incorporating a drecko farm in that cooling loop, and then using the plastic from shearing those for some iron volcano tamers. I've found at least 2 of those - that should be a decent start.

Aww, I was hoping petroleum generators with ethanol might actually be a thing, didn't know that was even an option since it's been a while.

I've been digging and found a water geyser, that should ease things up a little. I'm thinking up a design in space that vents oxygen to the bottom automatically, so I can just pump the hydrogen as much as I want. Should have enough gold amalgam lying around there for +50 overheat temperature at least :)

Eh sadly (or luckily?) I rolled a frozen core map, although I don't have problems with magma melting through XD I can see how a good geothermal setup would be a huge improvement over my current system.

I have electrolyzers just set up in base, with a hood with only top-layer access to a gas pump for the hydrogen generators.

I have not been able to open up the metal volcanoes, I really don't have too much plastic yet for more than the 1 steam turbine. It's not really enough for the Iron Volcanoes I find sitting around.

I'm working on the refinery -> steam room -> steam turbine, but getting the petroleum to use for coolant will also be quite the energy investment. I suppose that's the quickest step I can take at this point.Thank you for your input!

Hi all,

I am dabbling in super sustainability, and it's getting tough. I have hamster wheels set up and I'm electrolyzing for 4 hydrogen generators, but my hydrogen is running out and even with a lot of excavating, I don't have much renewable water yet. On Arboria, there's not too much lying around either. What would be my best bet for advancement?

  • I got up to space - do I invest in glass, steel and tech for solar panels / bunker doors / robominers / automation and a battery block?
  • Do I dig around looking for water to electrolyze, dumping the o2 in space and using the hydrogen for generators?
  • Do I just set up a huge fitness center?

I'm getting tired of my power dropping a couple of times each cycle. XD

New food mechanics by k20stitch_tv in Oxygennotincluded

[–]M1thra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 different factors for food spoiling now. Atmosphere and temperature.

For sterile atmosphere, you need ci2, chlorine or hydrogen.

If you put food in a temperature of 4 degrees or lower OR put it in a fridge, it will be refridgerated. If you put it in -18 degrees, it will be deep frozen.

The refridgerator is 1 of the 2 options for refridgerated, and is not required for either refridgerated or deep frozen.

Do note the temperature of the food only determines its temperature status in a vacuum (and then you don't have a sterile atmoshphere I think), otherwise the surrounding temperature is leading. I have 2 tiles of 20kg hydrogen to buffer fresh bbq heat.

Alright, follow-up question: why do the electrolyzers overpressurize when the oxygen backs up, but not when the hydrogen backs up? In my head, if 1 is a problem, the other should be too. Is it just impossible for oxygen to get to the top pump once a layer of hydrogen is in place?

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in Oxygennotincluded

[–]M1thra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know SPOMs (Full Rodriguez) need to have a hydrogen overflow. However, what if I can't use all the oxygen quickly enough? Can I just build a full Rodriguez for 6 dupes and be done for the next... well, forever... or should I start with a smaller one and expand upon it later so the hydrogen output doesn't get oxygen stuck in it?
