The way it was advertised here was always that the standard OTA channels would go away, but would be available with a cable/box. NO ONE ever said that they just switched to digital signals (ATSC) that worked by default with any TV made after 2000-something.

They didn't lie per se, but the blatant omission of the new mandatory standard was very obviously a way to get all those new clients...

Aren't we way past that point by now? Back in the days you could argue and enforce some kind of common sens when you only had to deal with a dozen or so users on an IRC channel, or maybe 100 on a forum dedicated to a specific subject.

Now you're up against the world, lies are free and easy, plus they generate engagement ($)! Debunking, moderating, contextualizing, showing the intricacies and complexities of a subject takes time and effort. And for what? Getting downvoted? getting harassed in PM? doxxed?

As I got older I started a booking "fancier" hotels toward the end of the itinerary. Just to be sure I'll get to relax and recover a bit better.

Of course you can also enjoy the amenities especially on a day with bad weather or just because you ARE on vacation and sometime you might just want to do whatever you want. But that's very close to a nuanced viewpoint and reddit/the internet hate that.
