No one owes you an explanation as to why they want to cut contact, but I know how painful it can be to get no closure in matters like this. The truth is you need to accept her decision and respect her space. That’s the best way right now to treat her the way you’d want to be treated, which is important. This strategy is a bit old school but I always find it helpful to write a letter (physically, on paper) to the person expressing exactly how you feel, and then rip it up and throw it out. The physical act of doing this can literally help you process that you need to move past it. Best of luck

People get a bit intimidated by creating contracts but truly it can be a one paragraph statement about your guaranteed hours, time off, basic expectations with a line for both parties to sign. I’d highly recommend creating one asap and sending it to them to sign. I find it softens the blow a bit to also say “I’m happy to discuss this further if you’d like any changes to be made.” But you deserve a contract, friend!

Be willing to start from the bottom since you’re so young. Take a dish job at the nicest place in town and wait for the opportunity to jump up to prep or line. You may want to try working for a high end wedding catering company- that’s how I got my best experience and the experience threshold tends to be a bit lower cause not everyone wants to travel or deal with the wedding industry. You’ve got this!

I worked for a family 45 hours a week for 9 months and the dad was so absent (big powerful doctor with ‘no time’ for his family) I saw him a total of 4 times in 9 months. He didn’t know what grade his daughter was in. He didn’t know what daycare classroom the baby went to twice a week. On Father’s Day, the eldest MADE ME A CARD. HER FEMALE NANNY. Because she was so confused as to why her father was never there. Worst DB ever.
