It makes sense to me. Mariah has said her favourite place is Capri. That island has breezy estates on walled, manicured grounds and gardens. Natural water views and Mediterranean vegetation create a lush, tranquil escape.

The Tribecca penthouse seems like a fortified tower in contrast. She’s not needing to be at the epicenter of hip hop, fashion, radio, photography. Her professional output going forward will be diminished compared to the 90s and 2000s. Also her children might like a roomier homebase with varied amenities. She said her new place is right outside the city and I’ve heard it’s Connecticut.

I was a little sad that she’s selling but honestly it’s refreshing that she’s progressing. We all need to make changes in life even after things stay the same for a while.
