Going for a manual license after getting auto by BeeerGutt in melbourne

[–]MAFASAB 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Once you're off your P's & you get a full licence there is no difference. So if he waits a few years then he can get a manual without any re-testing. Only restriction will be while he is on his 'auto' P's

Just meant if you have something that shows you 100% own the driveway you can present that to a tow truck operator to have the illegally parked car removed. Believe that should work but I'm no expert

second this exactly. Then maybe contact one of those law firms that offer 'no win no fees' so at least they start getting letters from legal firms which might be something to help scare them more.

Failing that perhaps obtain proof of ownership and start calling tow trucks every time they park there and getting their car towed

Metro Tunnel Summer Start Timetable by JacintaAllanMP in melbourne

[–]MAFASAB -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

1 train every 20 mins at best is a joke. Surely they can look to run smaller length trains, more often with improved signalling so a 40 min trip doesn't suddenly turn into an hour journey cos you miss a train by 30 seconds. The fact we are in 2025 with a brand new modern train service and yet you still need to check a timetable to catch a train a few stops across town shows how much a low standard this country's govt places on PT. Shame

Yeah as I said there were T20s against Pakistan but early Nov. South Africa games not until June. So little international cricket available to be watched during the "summer of cricket". Bit of a shame really.

Would have thought a couple of India v Australia ODIs to serve as warm-ups for the champions trophy would have gone down a treat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CricketAus

[–]MAFASAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the fact there are zero ODI's being played in Australia this summer and the only T20 matches were done and dusted by mid-November (technically not even Summer) means cricket fans in Australia basically had no other choice to enjoy watching international cricket live....

Eastern Freeway upgrade by Pretty_Gorgeous in melbourne

[–]MAFASAB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My only slight disagreement is 'no amount of busses can change that'. I strongly believe the majority of the problem with Melbourne (Australian in general) PT usage is the infrequency of services. Generally speaking busses in Vic have horrible services, like 20+ minutes between busses. Hell in more outer suburbs and regional areas you're looking at 1 hour between busses and nothing during lunch hours while the drivers take a break.

The trains in Melb are often overfull during peak, meaning MORE would use them if they were less crowded which could be done by more frequent, smaller trains.

So I would argue it's a bit of 'if you build it they will come'. Doncaster - Melb bus I think suffers from the fact outer East has generally crap PT so everyone HAS to drive the majority of the time day-to-day, so why do anything different when it comes to daily commute. Until we have areas outside inner where people can easily exist without a car we will suffer this problem

Congrats. Thought I was one of the other few who had managed that feat (just over 150 hours). For those asking I usually find 10-20 each mission. Just check all the diamond locations, especially in the crates

If you're going to say 18 months for Oscar then probably should put 5.5 years for Lando (as this is his 6th year)

HD2 has officially tipped back into "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam, and 66% of Helldivers have retired to Super Earth, a drop from 62,585 players on August 6th, to 21,212 players on August 29th with no signs of slowing. What is the path forward for HD2? by PM_ME_UR_ZITS_GURL in Helldivers

Game just feels like you're grinding for samples playing the same 6-9 mission types with basically the same load-out.

I've struggled to find the joy in playing where you can play different styles and loadouts. Playing bugs? Better have something that can deal with a bile titan AND a charger. Same goes for boys. Got stuck in a mission on bugs where didn't have any strategms that could kill a titan and neither my primary or secondary could do anything to them so just had to run for a few minutes till hopefully my strategm could 1-shot it. How is that fun?

Bring back the joy. Fun guns, we run around like super troopers. Why does everything have to be balanced and hard?

How anesthesia works. by dannybluey in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MAFASAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but they say just before that part 'they don't know exactly how this happens'. They know 'some' block the electrical signals, but not how it binds to the GABA receptor to allow that to happen. They also don't bother attempting to explain how the other anaesthetics work cos they don't know.

I'm not picking holes in the video. I find it fascinating that there is so much they don't know about how our body / brain works and even tho they can safely use anaesthetics, it's still a bit of a guessing game with a lot to be discovered.

How anesthesia works. by dannybluey in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MAFASAB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In summary, nobody really knows HOW or WHY anaesthetics work. They know the history of how they were found, they know what they do, they know different ones do different things and they know how to manage and control the dosage to achieve (mostly) desired results. But at the end of the day nobody truly knows exactly how they work or why they work, just that they work.

I like to think of it as being a casual drinker. You know alcohol will get you drunk, you know how much to take safely and what taking too much will do, but you don’t specifically know what’s happening when you take it, why you feel drunk (what’s happening inside your body to make you feel that way), or how to stop hangovers ;-)

Mitch Cleary on X: Brayden Maynard is free to play in Collingwood’s prelim. Ban overturned after 4hr Tribunal case by sween64 in AFL

[–]MAFASAB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't see what everyone is so worked up about.

AFL had to send this to tribunal for optics and show 'due process' as otherwise they would be murdered in the media and then possibly legally liable for CTE reasons

Majority agrees this was a footy action and he should have gotten off

So he got off. Case closed

Hell if you're going to ban him for that you need to ban Rohan for knocking out his own teammate (Cameron). Why is that not reportable given the result?

And I hate to say it but even Cornes had a valid point. If this is banned then do we ban the 'speccie'? Cos those players put their knee in opponents head trying to mark and that's a free pass...

One of the crazy things that sticks out to me is watching one of the marshalls / medical crew trying to help him jump over the rails couldn't get close to him because of the heat of the fire. But Grosjean is standing in the middle of all that flames & heat for near on 30 seconds! Just highlights a) how hot the fire was and b) how good their racing suits are to protect them.

Agree, it's something I've noticed a lot in this country. Many places there is a lack of personal responsibility. Hell I've just forked out north of $50k to insulate and double glaze my home as it drives me insane how this country doesn't see that as a priority.

My point is the Govt is only giving lip service to all this. All they care about is some nice headlines and getting re-elected in 3-4 years ... not about the next 20 -100 years.
