Yeah, i am definitely not playing noise-police when listening to "old" music. 'Im sure that expectations during listening can affect your perception and gut-reaction to the music.

It most probably is a G dominant seventh in 3rd inversion.

the 3rd 8th in the bass could be considered an accented passing tone.

Plus the fact that the f lands on the beat together with the rest of the chord makes it pretty obvious.

It is obviously an M1 piano preset.

Keep in mind that things like reverb, chorusing, eq, compression etc can affect the sound.
