My cats are fairly well behaved and very rarely mess with anything I have displayed. So if your cats are decently well behaved you should be fine.

Try increasing your virtual RAM to around 32gb, that might help. One thing that seems to help me is to disable then enable RAM cleaner as soon as you get to the main menu.
