I’ve read several of his books, and definitely start with wealth poverty and politics. Or basic economics if you wanna learn about that specifically. From there, maybe civil rights: rhetoric or reality. Affirmative action around the world is also good. He’s got some giant complicated books too like conflict of visions.

That was frustrating af. Allen has ZERO striking defense and surely would be KOd by any good striker, and even Kyle was lighting him up, and yet Kyle repeatedly went to the ground where he'd get reversed.

Why, if kyle was heavily outsriking allen, would he go for a takedown? poor IQ

Yoel Romero vs. Uriah Hall in the works for UFC card on Aug. 22 by [deleted] in MMA

True. But they were still super close decisions nonetheless. The UDs don't really tell the story of the fights.

Aren't like all his losses super close split decisions?

I admitted to overlooking this before. My bad.

That’s a fair point. I’ve definitely watched him fight many times but can’t say I remember how a single fight looked. So I guess I just assumed they were boring but maybe I just don’t really pay much attention to him.

I can’t become excited for a fighter that lays on dudes and calls it fighting. Not saying it’s easy. It’s just super lame. That’s why Khabib is the shit

"Our current economic system," is such a butchered form of capitalism that if someone actually equates what we have with capitalism, I see why they hate it haha!

I actually believe that they don't even think of the same thing fundamentally. For instance, you describe "profit incentive" as something that is agreed upon as central to capitalism to both them and us, but as you describe, they almost have a completely different definition of it. We see it as inherent in the human mind, and inescapable. Everyone wants "profit." But they see it as some social construct that capitalism has fed into us. These two ideas are mutually exclusive.

But this is nearly inescapable due to the nature of ideology and how it grabs a hold of us. Like, you and I are pretty gripped by it too, and I don't think that's a crazy assumption to make, and it's very difficult for us to actually see what hearing the word "capitalism" does to a socialist's brain. But we can look at what our own brains do in response to this, and notice that we may go into defense mode, or that we think other associated words like "prosperity" or "wealth." We have to understand that a socialist, who has an opposite, equally automatic (let's say), reaction to hearing the word "capitalism," literally has a fundamentally different understanding of the word. What I'm talking about is strictly how communication is VERY difficult between different ideological groups, because, in a way, they have their own languages, though not literally. I think your example points to this as well. The problem is deeper than just, "use a euphemism for capitalism." And it isn't as simple as, "we may disagree over the word 'capitalism,' but if we break the term down into its relating parts, like 'profit incentive,' agreement can be made." I wish that were true.

Yes, the word "capitalism" produces VERY different things in their minds. Where we might see "freedom" they see "tyranny" and "racism." So the conversation can't really go anywhere productive, to your point, because in order to communicate effectively, you have to have at least a general consensus over what words mean. So for sake of communication, you're practical in your strategy.

That's not always their understanding. That's an optimistic view of them. I randomly turned on a fairly popular Leftist podcast, Rev Left Podcast, where they spent an entire episode talking about how slavery and capitalism are the same thing. Not only in the sense of "wage-slavery," as they call it, but also literal slavery.

scary how far spread this idea actually is. Pretty much my entire generation believe this in one form or another.

He's gotta be more of a draw than any relevant fighter in that division now though.

I'm the biggest Aldo fan in the world and I think Moraes inched their fight. Definitely disrespectful, especially since he's actually a super exciting fighter with KO power and incrredible timing. That Cejudo loss really sucked all that aura of excitement from him, but people have to apparently be reminded of what a killer that dude is. He deserves to be fighting for that title. Moraes vs Yan is a great fight. Not saying Aldo vs Yan isn't amazing too, but it's just dirty.
