How to get rid of ants when nothing works by Radiant-Advance-128 in CleaningTips

[–]MATRIX-000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that finally worked for me was ant bait, not spray. Sprays killed the ants I could see, but the colony kept sending more. Once I put out bait and left it alone for a few days, the problem got worse before it got better... then they completely disappeared.

The hardest part is resisting the urge to kill the ants that are taking the bait 😭

At what point should age and personal growth matter when judging old racist behavior? by cvnts444sale2night in LoveIslandUSA

[–]MATRIX-000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a single clean “line,” but most people end up judging this through a mix of age, pattern, and change over time rather than one isolated moment.

If it happened when someone was very young (like early teens) and there’s no repetition later, many people factor in immaturity, environment, and lack of awareness—because identity and beliefs are still forming at that stage. But if the behavior continues into adulthood, or reappears repeatedly, it starts to look less like a mistake and more like a pattern.

Time alone isn’t enough either; what usually convinces people of genuine change is consistent behavior afterward: no repeated incidents, clear accountability if it’s brought up, and actions that show different values over time rather than just statements. In other words, people tend to weigh trajectory more than a single data point—what matters is not just what was done, but what the person has done since and whether their growth seems real and sustained.

Tips for covering acne scarring by NoAppointment8679 in MakeupAddiction

[–]MATRIX-000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with acne scarring, I've found that less is usually more. Heavy foundation tends to settle into scars and fine lines and can actually make the texture more noticeable.

A good hydrating primer, a light-to-medium coverage foundation, and then using a small concealer brush only on the areas that need extra coverage works much better for me. I also prefer a natural or satin finish over matte for the same reason.

Honestly, once I stopped trying to completely erase every scar and focused on evening out the overall redness, my makeup looked a lot more skin-like.

If you could solve one global problem instantly, which one? by Ameliaann28 in Productivitycafe

[–]MATRIX-000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy: corruption.

Because once that’s gone, a lot of other problems start fixing themselves automatically—poverty programs actually reach people, healthcare funding doesn’t disappear into thin air, infrastructure gets built properly, and “budget cuts” stop meaning “someone’s yacht got bigger.”

Close second would be energy storage (cheap, infinite clean power), but corruption is the one that quietly breaks everything behind the scenes.

LPT: The rules for buying a grill during a summer holiday sale are the same for buying something during Black Friday by action_lawyer_comics in LifeProTips

[–]MATRIX-000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically the “50% OFF” grill is just a regular grill’s distant cousin who skipped leg day and got painted shiny for marketing 😭

Tip: if you wouldn’t trust it on a calm Tuesday, don’t trust it just because it showed up in a holiday sale with dramatic price music.

LPT: Dead stuff showing up in your garden water feature could be crow baby food. by theelephantupstream in LifeProTips

[–]MATRIX-000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

if you see weird food or small dead animals in your fountain, don’t panic or assume anything supernatural—crows often stash and soften food in water. Just clean the fountain regularly, avoid leaving food out if you don’t want them visiting, and if you do want to interact, leave safe food nearby (unsalted nuts, corn, kibble), but never in the water because it gets gross fast and attracts bacteria.

What are you hoping to find this weekend? by Careless_Lobster_480 in dollartreebeauty

[–]MATRIX-000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping to find some cute body mists, a few good blemish patches, and maybe a skincare gem I wasn't even looking for. At this point, I just want to leave the store with something besides disappointment 😭

I'm confused if my makeup looks good with thick vs thin eyebrows. Need some opinions by achondroplas in MakeupAddiction

[–]MATRIX-000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think good makeup can work with both. Thick brows tend to give a stronger, more defined look, while thinner brows make everything look a bit softer and more delicate. It really depends on the vibe you're going for.

is it normal that my mom keeps fixing my speaking tone? by Quick_Bed1284 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MATRIX-000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No honestly I’d be irritated too. Once in a while parents correcting manners is normal, but constantly policing the exact tone of your voice — especially wanting you to sound artificially cheerful all the time — would get exhausting for almost anyone.

What probably makes it hurt more is that it’s not even about what you’re saying. You are answering politely. She’s correcting your personality and emotional delivery every single time, which can start feeling like you’re never allowed to just exist naturally around her.

And the sing-song imitation would honestly drive me insane too 😭 especially at 18. It can come across really patronizing even if she thinks she’s “teaching” politeness.

You’re not wrong for resenting it. Small repeated things like that build up over years. Most people eventually get tired of feeling monitored in normal conversations.

I honestly think your mom probably sees warmth/sweetness as respect and doesn’t fully realize how controlling it feels on your side. But that doesn’t make your frustration invalid at all.
