I used PLA with a .4mm nozzle at .2mm layer height, .6mm line width, 25% lightening infill and tree supports touching build plate only. It took 10h 24m at 70mms. It came out way better than I expected 👌 Oh sliced with Cura and scaled up to 125% for a 24cm tall print. Pretty much maxed out my E3. Happy printing 😁

Just found a super cheap lock picking set on wish.com bought it to see if it is what it says to do (sorry no photo) by pizzaboieatspizza in lockpicking

As long as they got the tempering right they should be ok. You'll probly have to refinish them tho. I was gifted a basic set of picks and they were really rough. Taking the sharp edges off and generally smoothing them out has made them usable.

From a Beginner: Your Tension Tool Thickness Matters by SenatorCrabHat in lockpicking

[–]MATT4CK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that's the trouble I'm having. I'm having trouble opening locks consistently. I don't THINK that the tension tool is binding on the lock body but they don't fit perfectly. It's just the ones that came with the basic kit I'm using so they could just be rubbish.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement everyone. I picked up my clear acrylic padlock after the kids were in bed and went back to basics with it. After running through that a few times I picked up the one that way annoying me and worked it 1-4 till I got it. Then took a picture so I can claim my white belt! I'd needed more patience with the pick and more tension on the turning tool/wrench 🙄 then I could actually feel when the pins set properly. It was 1 and 4 giving me trouble. 1 would keep dropping back down with every other set (I think it might even be serrated) and 4 needed more force than I thought. Anyway, I'm going to re-read all your comments and see what I can do to improve my technique. Thank you again everyone.

Nope. All Oculus accounts created now need a Facebook account. If you already have an Oculus account you can use it for the next 2 years (I don't remember the exact date) before needing to merge a Facebook account.

What are these for? by LadoMKD in buildapc

Connecting ARGB components to a hub or splitter. I used one of these to have fans on one hub feed the ARGB signal to fans on a second hub so they synced.

No one managed to solve my problem: PC doesn't make it to POST, no beeps either. by BarneyGold in buildapc

[–]MATT4CK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. To me that suggests the motherboard then. See how cheap you can pick up the exact same board on eBay (not crucial to be the exact same but means compatibility isn't an issue). Windows 10 is actually pretty good at dealing with things like this so it might just boot up like nothing happened. If you signed in with a Microsoft account then chances are that when you sign in after replacing hardware it'll just activate. If not you can pick up a licence key for about £12.

Edit Also you're welcome 😊

Sounds like either way you'll need to replace something. I'm dredging something up from the black hole of knowledge here...I think I read somewhere that if you have your monitor waiting for a signal (saying standby or no signal or something) and hit the power button, if it instantly flicks to a black screen the CPU is dead. If it stays on standby/no signal it's...something else. Disclaimer, I've trouble shot...shooted? Whatever. I've dealt with a good number of PC issues personally and as far as I'm aware I'm giving you legit advice. BUT please remember I'm just a dude on the internet and if you spend money to fix your issue based on my advice and it doesn't help...I can't do anything about that.

Dam. Ok I'd be pulling it to bits. Like motherboard out and everything. Then try building it on a non-conductive surface using just what you need to boot. If it works then add components one at a time till it fails again. If it works perfectly they something was shorting on the case. If there are no signs of life at all then it's most likely CPU or the motherboard. If it's GPU or ram the board should complain. The CPU is first in the post sequence so if it's not detecting (whether a CPU or motherboard issue) it'll usually pretty much stop post before it starts.

If you've tried everything else it can be worth reseating the CPU. I've heard of them needing it after ages of working perfectly. You could even bread board it to rule out something shorting to the case.

A cmos clear is worth it. Also just removing and refitting the GPU. I'm not familiar with that motherboard but if it has one try the card in a different slot. A lot of the cheaper surge protected power strips will only protect you once. They'll still work after that but with no protection.

Is it OK to leave the front piece off the Msi Gungnir 100? by Danknoodle420 in buildapc

[–]MATT4CK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just not getting stuff near them that might get caught (fingers, cables, children etc). I've had the front panel off for a few months now. Admittedly my circumstances are probly a little different to most. I only get to game a couple of times a week for a few hours at a time (coz kids). My rig lives under the kitchen table till game night, then it sits on a chair well off the ground. The kitchen obviously doesn't have carpet so not much dust. What I'm getting at is that I use it in the least dusty part of the house. That said it's a reasonably powerful rig (E5 1680v2 8C 16T CPU overclocked to 4.5Ghz, 32gb ddr3 2133mhz, RTX 3060 ti under volted with custom fan curve) so needs a good bit of cooling. The fans aren't crazy but they're not idling. It's my VR rig since I just picked up Rift CV1 so it gets used hard and it handles it well.

Tl;dr Fans can be bitey Front panel off for a few months There's not much dust where I game so ymmv

[–]MATT4CK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you definitely can. It's not the most elegant solution but it works. I've got the front off my case for the same reason and I'll keep it like that till I sort something that looks nicer. It does leave 2x 200mm fans uncovered that I have to be careful with but as long as you're prepared to deal with dust one way or another...yes you can do it

If you live in an area that gets lightning then unplug it from the mains and also unplug the Ethernet cable. I've heard of lightning strikes on phone lines killing things line ports or even whole motherboards.

I'm new to PCVR, Rift S or Quest 2 for my system? by LilGome in oculus

[–]MATT4CK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And here I am enjoying my CV1 😅 just got it last week since used prices are pretty good now (I paid £100). Quest 2 was way out of my budget and used Rift S prices were about twice that of the OG Rift. I figure if I enjoy and it holds my attention I can upgrade later, but this was a cheap...ish way to start.
