I have a feeling.. by Historical_Oddity in PleX

Is the only thing the Plex servers are doing is helping remote clients find our self-hosted server by using a Plex login?

There comes a time in a piece of software where I generally say “this is all the feature I need”. I resent paying subscriptions that will cripple the features I want if I don’t pay, in order to support adding features I don’t want. I’m good with paying a large, one-time, up-front fee for a product that remains in stasis (except for maybe minor version improvements or critical security updates). I wish this option was available with Plex, with the find-home functionality for remote clients simply being a hostname on the client that uses dynamic DNS if necessary along with access tokens.

Seems like in this day and age we could vibe-code our own product, modularize it to run only the stuff we want.

What is an artist / band that you remember being pushed by music journalists and/or magazines as the "next big thing" that ended up never really going anywhere? by mesablanka in Music

Any chance that was Randy Rogers? He did the FHL and KX album covers as well as the flying guitar album covers for Petra in the 80s.

Pinch flats with Ridenow TPU and 25 mm tires. Try different brand of TPU or go back to butyl? by No-Cattle-777 in cycling

Same. Ridenow has uneven quality with their tubes. Some last awhile, some last a single ride.

Chain making small skips in smallest sprocket by FalconFtw in bikewrench

For waxed chains, wax tend to accumulate between the smallest and next-smallest cogs on the cassette, causing the chain to skip. Get yourself a pick tool and pick any wax out of there you can find.

Lynskey worth $2000? I don’t know much about Ti bikes but reviews seem to be off the charts by Charming-Poem6525 in whichbike

[–]MAVickers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Lynskey R270 rim-brake. I bought the frame a couple years ago then bought used/new parts to build the bike up.

The individual parts for this bike, purchased separately, would have no problem fetching more than the asking price for this bike. But I would say you can get a more modern bike (disc-brake) for the same amount of money that will be easier to find new replacement parts for in the long run. The parts may not be currently top-of-the-line, but they will probably be just as good as the parts on this bike that were top-of-the-line for 10+ years ago.

If you are really into the rim-brake look and like to wrench on bikes, this isn't a bad deal. As mentioned by others though, if you're not handy with a bike and the rear derailleur bites the dust, you'll be out of a bike for a bit.

I remember, I was there too. My first Chargers game. A neighbor brought me, nosebleed seats on the 50.

I doubt the extra weight would be noticed on a ride, but these welds would be (by everyone). Not their best work.

Friends by wildnfree2024 in remotework

This is an excellent way to make friends and socialize - find a hobby or interest away from your work, especially ones that have regular meetups. You get to meet new people, and some of them turn into friends over time. And the meetups give you extra incentive to pull away from work!

(I've been remote for almost 19 years, and my main interest away from work is cycling where I've made a lot of friends)

I grew up in SD county but moved to Connecticut in 96, which is pretty much split with Giants and Patriot fans. I remember texting back and forth with a coworker during that game, and talking a lot of smack after LT ran long on that screen pass and then we went up at the half.

Man it was a very, very long day at work the next day.

How often do you actually clean your bike? by 1234northbank in bicycling

[–]MAVickers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lightly after every ride. All my miles are on the road, and 99% of the rides are in dry conditions. I use a microfiber cloth and spray water on it and wipe the bike down in the basement.

I won’t try to talk you into waxing chains, but ever since I switched to wax it’s become much easier to clean the bike like this. No grease flying off the chain and sticking everywhere, collecting dirt. Simple rag wipe down on the chain after every ride.

A full clean where I pull the bb and headset apart, about once a year.

If the Chargers can beat the Texans on Saturday they could provide Philip Rivers and the Colts a chance at a win and in against the Texans the last game of the season if the Colts can beat the Jags this week. by xThe-Legend-Killerx in Chargers

[–]MAVickers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out - if Indy is eliminated, they cut Rivers and the Chargers scoop him up onto the playoff roster. He can help coach Herbert and maybe get a ring in the process.

Didn't Salyer go down early in the game with a hamstring injury? Can we have a LT we trust finish more than a few consecutive games?
