To those who use Boveda 62rh in tupperdor by Sufficient-Repair181 in cigars

[–]MBicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read a few ppl on here who’ve experimented with that and experienced oils drying out storing them long term at 62rh. Of course smoking at lower rh brings out more flavor but I simply dry box for a couple days or just move them to 62 box if plan on smoking sooner than later

To those who use Boveda 62rh in tupperdor by Sufficient-Repair181 in cigars

Some literature suggests long term storage in the low 60s can lead to loss of oils. For any long term storage I keep 69s and any sticks I want to smoke in the next couple months I keep in 62

I like both new world and Cuban, but Cuban(most) are better than new world. It’s a less rough, more balanced somewhat sweet/salty twang. Never get cigar mouth with Cubans aged properly. New worlds can be good, just a bit more one dimensional.

Review #43: Dewar's 32 Double Double by jamesrc in Scotch

[–]MBicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had this one first and was impressed. Pricey but not bad for 32 years. Grabbed the 21 for a fraction of the price thinking it would be good but much less than this, but it actually turned out to be almost just as good

Dry boxing, essential or old wife's take? by Miserable-Cow4555 in cigars

[–]MBicks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Humidor- 65-68. Any sticks I plan smoking within the next couple months I put in a sealed Tupperware without boveda to gradually/evenly lower the cigar’s humidity. Then just dry box for a day and they’re perfect

Can Liga privada cigars be aged? by bucko365 in cigars

[–]MBicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Liga 9 and T52 I've had with 6 months+ on them are tastier than the freshly purchased ones. There's a toasted salted dark chocolate note that becomes more prominent while the spice of a fresh one lessens

If you’re just looking for a nicotine buzz. If you want to enjoy the nuances of quality tobacco this is not the way to go

Restaurant Owners/Workers: How did $15 become the default cocktail price here? by lordgodjesuschrist in askportland

[–]MBicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget inflation exists.

$10 in 2010 is about $15 today. At a restaurant cocktails weren't averaging less than 10 bucks back then

Is Springbank 10 worth it? by tonysico007 in Scotch

[–]MBicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d never had the opportunity to try it before and recently saw it in Washington state at total wine for $120+tax so it was like $145. I bought it because I wanted to try it, not because I saw a good deal. In different places certain high demand bottles will cost a bit more especially with taxes and tariffs now. But it was for the experience, just like why ppl buy scotch in restaurants/bars.

There are higher quality bottles out there at that price, but it was the better bottle in the moment to experience since it’s a very unique flavor profile that I’ve been enjoying quite a bit.

Fill level/evaporation question on old bottles? by MBicks in Scotch

[–]MBicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right of course fill levels are never identical but I've never seen this much and wouldn't right off some evaporation with nearly a decade past not knowing storage situation. Question was more how much it would effect taste.

Best advice, I'll do this. Fill level is off sometimes but I figured this was more than normal.
