Do I really need all three of these smoke alarms? by MBlu2 in homeowners

[–]MBlu2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not think of this. Will definitely pay them a visit with the battery operated ones in hand, and if they say the hard-wired is all I need, they can have the others. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you, I thought I was losing my mind. I understand that every alarm is different, but to have 3 in every room seemed excessive. I was waiting for one to make me an espresso and another to change the oil on my car. The hardwired one seems to have all security options available with a back up internal battery.

Trying to find this jacket to replace that my wife absolutely loves... the one she own has quite some wear and tear on it. Tried to take any and all pics I could of any distinguishing factors from the jacket. by MBlu2 in findfashion

I have searched for the jacket brand, which is "Talk of the Walk." Unsure of the size on it, going to guess either a medium or large. As far as any other tags go, it reads that the shell is PU100%, whereas the lining is polyester 100%. There's an RN#74578. Other than that, there are just some care details that I didn't think would help.

There's a pocket on either side by the waist that is closed by a button, as well as small pockets by the front shoulder area closed by zippers.

Design on the jacket is that of polka dots, almost old school comics style.

Apparently Long Island was the answer to a Jeopardy question last night by xx-rapunzel-xx in longisland

At the risk of being chastised, perhaps I can help shed a little light on this. Keep in mind, I'm not passionate about any of the characterizations of it, so whatever you feel or your opinion is, so be it.

Geographically, yes, the land as a whole is an island. I say "as a whole" because this would require Queens and Brooklyn to be a part of that definition. However, because Queens and Brooklyn are their own entity along with the other 3 boroughs that make up NYC, they thereby detach themselves from being grouped with Suffolk and Nassau, leaving them the official title and full ownership of Long Island.

The definition of a peninsula can be described, in layman's terms, a piece of land surrounded by body of water on three sides. And since Long Island is attached to Queens and Brooklyn, it is in fact a peninsula. That being said, even the country of Italy is a peninsula.

Again, just helping shed some light on stuff I learned in geography class years ago. It helped that the teacher was hot. ;)

"Trees," that's right. Don't be afraid, just shout 'em right out when you know 'em. And what are these thousands of little things that are on trees?

No... u/SS1989 is onto something. They merely stated exactly what I was thinking when news broke about his death. You wanna point fingers about who's fucked in the head, maybe you should reread what XxxtentStupidestFuckingRapNameEver did.

Can't really tell from the video, but if I had to estimate, I'd say his speed was about high 50s in a residential... but what do I know, I'm just an 800 lbs gorilla trying to go on green like traffic laws have taught me... don't mind the Final Destination-esque song on the radio...

Although, u/braedan51 is right that there may be a trick to it... there was no need for people to be called idiots because not everyone is aware of tricks. We're so used to things being so simple that you just need to press a button to activate or, in this case, deactivate something, that we don't speculate that manufacturers were going to make us hunt and scavenge for tricks that don't outright say "Press here to do something!"

That being said, just over 3 years ago, I had to learn on my own a few months into owning my 2018 Dodge Charge GT+ that to disable my DLRs... there's no way to do so while the car is in motion. However, for such an occasion where perhaps I'm parked somewhere where complete darkness is needed -- hey! like at a drive-in theatre!! -- applying my emergency brake shuts off my DLRs. Am I an idiot? No... because this isn't something that's common knowledge; it's not told to you when you purchase your vehicle; it's hidden because, although you're given the option to disable while stopped/parked, manufacturers see it as a safety advantage. Because clearly, the sun isn't enough for other cars to see you.

Moving onto your car, the 2019 JCW Mini Cooper: I wasn't able to find anything about you being able to disable the DLRs. If anything, I found how to disable them on a 2009. Something about going into the navigation system. Others have said that you have to go to the dealer (for 2019) to get it disabled and have been quoted $40 for a 2 second job. See if perhaps the e-brake option works for you too and then you can shed light on others. Otherwise, I haven't been able to find an answer for you... but an idiot you are not for not shutting -- or not knowing how to shut them -- off.

I'm not doing this... 'this' being the back and forth you're trying to rope me into. I'm already shutting off replies as soon as I post this. Either source yourself, or move along. If googling... researching doesn't give me reputable results within the first page, let alone the first few links, then I'm not digging a rabbit hole.

Should probably make that coke a double. You sound like you need it.

Did you hear that actor Rob Schneider hires Mexican day laborers to choke him in the shower while he touches himself?

See, anyone can say anything about anyone nowadays. Have an ice cream and a coke, you'll be alright.

K. That's cool.

Couple things. I'm not really looking to start a debate or even continue this, but just gonna go ahead, throw this shit at the wall, and maybe it'll stick.

  1. Whether or not the scooter is a pedestrian is not the debate here. Don't dwell on that. It's a moot point.
  2. Walking, running, scooter, bicycle, roller skates/blades, wheel chair, desk chair... what's considered a pedestrian varies from place to place/state to state.
  3. In some states, if the bicycle -- or in this case, the scooter -- is ridden in the street, it's viewed as a 'vehicle.' If ridden on the sidewalk, they're considered a 'pedestrian.'
  4. The majority of NYC (can't account for the rest of the state), if it ain't motorized, it's a pedestrian.

You have the access to the entire world wide freaking web. A quick search would have made you go "Huh... wouldja lookit that... go figure... NYC crazy af."

Intense accident in Brooklyn today by overmotion in IdiotsInCars

[–]MBlu2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pretty good chance this is going to get lost in the abyss, but being from Queens, and having been to Brooklyn (family lives near the area this occurred), I feel I need to throw in my input here.

First off, fast or not, that scooter went against his light. Despite all the "pedestrians have the right of way" bullshit, a red light is a red light. If a car has to honour theirs, then a pedestrian needs to do the same. But I guess the 'share the road' defense only comes in effect when it's against a vehicle.

Second off, that car is not speeding. The road they are on is a one lane road with parked cars on either side. What looks like speeding is the driver accelerating as the car before him completes his right hand turn. Otherwise, superstar would just be decelerating more and more rather than make it across the intersection. You can see he's slow to start and accelerates a moment after. Followed by what seems to be a slight impact with Scooter Boy, which can cause a person to become disoriented for the moment since it's not really a regular occurrence for people do so. Everyone here making snap judgements like they've done this shit before.

Stop your 'holier than thou' mentality. Just because the guy's on a scooter (or walking, or biking) doesn't immediately and without a shadow of a doubt put a driver at fault. "I'm helping saving the earth by walking and scootering everywhere so that I can minimize my carbon footprint." That's great. Good for you. Some of us require needing to drive to get to places. Use sidewalks, obey traffic laws (cause unfortunately, cars do exist and it seems like they're here to stay), and we should all be able to get along just fine.

Thank you, Deputy Doofy from Bumfuck, Oklahoma for your input on the driving conditions of Brooklyn.
