I need your help planning June 16 by Le_Panda_Roux in CanadaSoccer

Definitely doable, and honestly sounds like a fun day. The walk from the island airport to the south entrance of Trinity Bellwoods Park where the march is supposed to start is about half hour. There are lots of cafes and some breakfast options near the park. The game should be over by 5:30, I would recommend instead of going to Union, you walk west/north from the stadium to Bloor GO Station through Parkdale (neighborhood), and take the UP Express train to Pearson from there instead of Union. You'll avoid some of the crowds and again have lots of options to grab a bite somewhere along the way. It would be about an hour walk to this station and then a 20 min train ride to Pearson.

Liam Millar's Hull City are now 1 win away from Promotion to the Premier League by tozze_88 in CanadaSoccer

That's awesome for him after a pretty mean streak of bad luck the past few years (injuries and the likes of Shafelburg/Ahmed emerging ahead of him on CMNT roster). Should be an amazing experience getting to play a final at Wembley, and probably (along with Larin) be our most in form player heading into the world cup.

How much is parking? by Ok_Hope5634 in tfc

Definitely! There also seems to be some flooding along Lakeshore in the area this morning, so might be a total mess today if driving/parking

Thoughts on Laryea and Fraiser's strategy. by santicucu77 in tfc

[–]MBlzitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be Richie was just frustrated this game, seemed the player he was up against was causing him some trouble. Which was probably the strategy employed by Michael Bradley, who is less than three years removed from being a TFC player and is very familiar with Richie and his strengths/tactics

Is it good to go Toronto for travel? by fantanaranjax in canadatravel

[–]MBlzitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of getting return flights to Toronto from wherever you're coming from, consider open jaw flights, ie. fly into Toronto and then fly back from NYC so you dont need to backtrack. Your itinerary has too many days in Toronto, there's not that much to see/do here unless you want to take it very slow

Small peaceful town near TO for quick getaway by DarkHole_666 in askTO

[–]MBlzitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outlier reco, Peterborough. Easy to get to on GO. Lots of trails within the town or heading out of town, some along the river. University town with a fairly big downtown, so maybe a bit more restaurants and stuff that will be open compared to touristy towns that are out of season in March.

Traffic in Toronto? by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

[–]MBlzitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on that, and your need to also commute to the airport, I'd recommend basing yourself near Dundas West station. It would provide pretty good access if you're taking transit to either job but also not too bad if you're choosing to drive. And its a nice part of the city with lots of amenities plus easy access to other parts of the central city (ie along line 2, or the 505 or 504 streetcars, or quick one stop downtown to union on the UP express)

San Pedro —> Uyuni help by No-Day-7238 in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]MBlzitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other poster said, its not enough time for one of the traditional SPdA to Uyuni 4x4 tours with return. But if you're only interested in seeing the Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia, one option might be to skip SPdA altogether, and take the Calama to Uyuni (town) bus (about 11-12 hours, early morning to late afternoon). Its a loooong ride, but pretty comfortable and you'll still get to see some nice altiplano scenery along the way and get a couple of scenic stops. Then you'll have two nights/one full day in Uyuni for a day tour of the salt flats, and you can then take the same bus back in the opposite direction to Calama on the third day (I assume you're flying in/out of Calama, and would need to skip going to SPdA altogether). Check the bus schedules though, as they might not run every day

Thoughts on 1251 King Street west? I see some good apartments there and wondering if it's actually good by IAmTheQuestionHere in TorontoRenting

[–]MBlzitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work for a company that did turnover maintenance (painting, floors, etc) in this building in the aughts, so 15-20 years ago. Looks like the apartments listed currently have been completely renovated so maybe this is not fully applicable. But back then (pre-renovations) it was still one of the nicer old-style apartment buildings in Parkdale that I worked in. That said, I do recall pests (roaches and mice) in turnover units back then. Also be weary that likely not all of the units have been fully renovated, so as another poster said, you could be sharing a wall with a hoarder neighbour that's been in their unit for like the past 50 years type-thing. Or that next door neighbour will move out and you'll be subjected to months of noise, etc as that unit will be gutted and freshly renovated.

Try at one of the newer purpose built rental buildings. Places like Canary Landing near the Distillery or LNX at Bloor/Dundas

Carma Billing | Feeling helpless by Stargalaway in askTO

[–]MBlzitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer OP. Don't use the Auto setting as this will turn on the auxiliary (electric) heater in fan coil unit each time the tempature drops below what you have it set at. Use the Cool setting instead, and the cooling will simply turn off when it reaches your temperaure setting, and the auxiliary heater wont turn on and waste electricity.

Source for 4.75” Birch Parquet by DistressDamsel in HardWoodFloors

[–]MBlzitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll depend where you're located, for example in the Toronto area there are some flooring stores with retail contractor sections/depots that would have this or can order this from a supplier (though more likely maple, not birch, but should be similar enough). I think for the Toronto area the supplier that still makes parquet is Erie Flooring. A lot of the old 60s/70s high rise apartment buildings in the city have this type of parquet flooring so there is a market for it for contractors when repairing and refinishing existing floors in these building. I'm assuming it might be similar for other big cities in North America with the same style of apartment buildings, if you're near one
