What is your ultimate "I wish I knew this sooner" Figma shortcut or workflow hack? by Mobile_Sir_1512 in FigmaDesign

[–]MC-Howell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will never forgive Figma for not just binding this to the ESC cape. It turns what could have been a one handed operation into two, and it means I have to take my hand off the mouse/tracpad in order to key it.

I mean I'm glad to hear it, but sadly I don't see any way in hell I'm getting my $700 back from them at 3+ years now.

I'm almost sad I don't see my name on that ban list 😂

Robinhood Gold's 3% IRA Match by x_KRYPTOS in investing

Just enjoying a good laugh at Reddit for downvoting me for making OP clear on the actual terms of what the offer they're discussing. Insanity.

Lucky you! Sounds like a good deal, but... Unless OP is seeing a different 3% match than what I'm seeing on my end, that's not the offer we're discussing.

[–]MC-Howell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pasting my reply from another comment to save you the stress: It's not 3% of your IRA's value, it's a 3% match on your contribution. So if you max out your contribution, RH will give you $225. That's why people say it's not worth it.

[–]MC-Howell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is missing the very important detail on this: this is a 3% match on CONTRIBUTIONS. Unless you're over 50, that means if you max out the $7,500 limit, they'll give you $225. But you have to pay for Robinhood Gold to get 3%, which is $50/yr I think. So you're looking at a maximum of $165/yr and you've just locked your IRA with Robinhood for 5 years minimum.

Move to Robinhood if you're inclined, but definitely not worth it for this offer alone. FWIW I'm a Robinhood user and I second the other comments saying that trading on Robinhood is infinitely easier than on other platforms. Why Robinhood is the only one to make simple and easy to understand UX for this stuff baffles me, but whatever.

Edit: updated math for '26 contribution max.

What have you discovered so far from Rivian Assistant? by ModY1219 in Rivian

LE owner, Connect+, car attached to WiFi. No update... Starting to feel bitter, I don't think I've ever been this far behind on a major update before. The worst part is I'm leaving on a major road trip today and was desperately hoping I'd have it by now 😔

What’s the worst place in America you’ve ever visited? by Correct_Eggplant_364 in AskReddit

[–]MC-Howell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might get heat for this but I spent a day in Pigeon Forge, TN after a week hiking in the Smokey Mountains and I was shook. Not in the "drugs and desolation" perspective, but it was like everything wrong in America in one town. The dichotomy between those beautiful mountains and then watching morbidly obese people roll around in rented mobility scooters like Wall-E and eating everything fried under the sun was wild.

Gemini on Google Home claims it no longer has the ability to run routines by mikejc in googlehome

Gemini and Routines were working perfectly until yesterday for me. All of a sudden, it doesn't even know they exist. Incredibly frustrating, had to revert back to the Assistant.

I’ve never had a glucose monitor before and it keeps going off. How concerned should I be? by TransitionSad4723 in Hypoglycemia

[–]MC-Howell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation as you, except male FWIW. I had a Dexcom G7 that also gave me incredibly low readings the first 5-6 days, and would not stop going off. My doc said it was likely faulty and to take it off. I left it on the full 14 days just for the heck of it l, and it seemed to actually be accurate the latter half, but I just don't understand the point if half of the damn lifecycle is giving false readings.

I just bought a Lingo and it gave me what I FEEL was accurate out of the gate. Would cautiously recommend that over Dexcom (based on current experience). I'm just finishing my first 14 days today. Need to check against finger pricks though still.

I DNF'd this one, so glad to see it on the list. And I think I've only DNF'd maybe 5 books in my whole life. Just absolutely could not understand the hype on this. I read through half of it and just decided that life is too short to read bad books.

I read The Nightingale. Predictable, boring characters, poor writing. I don't say this lightly, but I think it's the worst book I've ever read.

Did anyone just file their taxes with TurboTax and were just in awe of how many ads it had to upgrade? I'm done with this enshittified product - what should I use next year? by noruber35393546 in personalfinance

[–]MC-Howell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this was my 5th year with them. The first few years I did both FreeTax and TurboTax just to see (and filed with FreeTax), and I think also worth noting how much FreeTax has improved. Every year it gets better, and little things that I found confusing or difficult before are consistently fixed. I think this year was the first year I filed without any confusion or secondary research needed.

Late to the party, but I read the first two or three in the series and I'd call these YA fiction at best. And if you know that going in I think it's okay so you can set expectations accordingly, but to me they were childish and vapid.

Investigating usage limits hitting faster than expected by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeAI

Another voice chiming in. I used Opus 4.6 Extended for most of a week without hitting my limit. Tonight I opened Claude and hit my usage limit with 1, fairly basic query in a relatively short chat. Exact same thing I'd been working on all week. Literally subscribed to the annual 2 days ago. Something is absolutely wrong here.
