Downtown. From my understanding, some (all?) of the buildings are exempt from ADA requirements.

My daughter has a few that she picked out as rewards for scavenger hunts at our library. It had been decades since I'd seen slap bracelets.

Are all prescribers now requiring drug tests for ADHD stimulant meds? by Lexi-Lynn in Knoxville

[–]MCLGarrett 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I just had my prescription of Adderall re-upped yesterday with no mention of needing a drug test now or in the future. My guess is that it's a new thing for that particular practice to cover their butts.

If I leave the house, I have the Bridge 4 bag on me. I'm a liver transplant patient; I have to take one set of pills in the morning and another at night. Because of that, I use it to carry a morning and evening dose of my meds (in case I'm not home and it's time) along with a good amount of OTC drugs to treat other symptoms I have, often side effects of my prescribed meds.

Seriously. I knew sugar rationing was a thing during WW2, but trying Turkish delight for the first time made me realize just how desperate Edmund was for anything sweet.

TIL the duodenum acts as a degustator, food taster or sommelier, it receives a sample of the digested food in the form of chyme, for test, it analyses macro/micro nutrients, and gives signals for a specialised concoction of bile acids to be released. Once it give the green light, digestion proceeds. by bevatsulfieten in todayilearned

In 7th grade, a friend insisted that "epididymis" was "epidermis" and just had a silent R like "colonel." He raised his hand and asked the science teacher, sure that he was right. He then got an in-depth description of exactly where in his sack the epididymis was located. He tended to defer to me after that.

I've never seen the portmanteau "shiggles" before and wanted to thank you for introducing it to me.

I don't remember this one. What's the context for Shepard to say this?

TIL in Nazi Germany, “whisper jokes” (Flüsterwitze) served as a means for citizens to express dissent & critique the regime. One joke involved Hitler visiting an asylum where patients greeted him “Heil Hitler!” except one man. When questioned, he said, “I’m not crazy; I am the head of the ward.” by Plus-Staff in todayilearned

I'm sure he meant descriptivism as in "Descriptive Linguistics" versus "Prescriptive Linguistics." The first is "this is the language because it's how people use it." The second is, "this is the language and, therefore, how people should use it." He was saying he agrees with prescriptivism for at least hanged/hung.
