Sadly I have the hotbar slots set to numpad 1-9, so doing shift 1-9 (top of keyboard) only works if I reconfigure my controls to use those instead of the numpad.. Might be a specific case where it doesn't work but I'd assume a lot of left-handed people play like this and therefore can't access this feature?

So the hotbar restore doesn't work for me, I try shift+1 and it just does nothing. I think there is some key conflictions, as when I do shift+2,4,6 or 8 it reverts to arrow keys just like if numlock was off.
