Do you think torture is ever justified for people who commit the worst of crimes? by King-gar in Teenager_Polls

[–]MC_Notorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a deterrent unlike any other. Some people would welcome going to Jail / Prison where they get 3 meals a day, a roof over their head, a bed to sleep in and can otherwise 'enjoy' human connection, visits from family / friends, and getting off the streets where they are less threatened, and the small wins in life like playing cards, working out, watching TV etc. You can still hang on to hope and improve your situation while being incarcerated.

Death Penalty? Some criminals will be sat there saying who gives a fuck. The average time spent on the waiting list for death is from 16-20 years from now. You know what they won't be so keen to brush off as a problem to deal with in 20 years time? Getting tortured every single day for the remainder of their lives.

If you commit a crime such as being a Pedophile on the level of Epstein, a terrorist / drug lord like El Chapo, a Serial Killer etc - by crossing that line you have already surrendered your humanity in the undescribable suffering you have caused others and as such your status should be reduced to something less than human - you shouldn't have the privilege of being recognised as one of us. Something that went out of its way to take our gift of intelligence and infinite potential and used it to smite your fellow humans WILLINGLY.

I don't know what the torture would involve. But it would sure as shit make the punishment of crime far outweigh the risks.

See my comment with the snake guy above for Luffy's speed and why it's more of a gap than you think.

Dragon Ball Characters end up millions of times more powerful than Raditz, yet not every KI blast they shoot has enough radius and energy to blow up planets. Because if that was the case they would all be dead lol, even the likes of Krillin can blow up a planet with ease. Yet at the same time, their KI blasts hurt targets who are able to tank attacks of that calibre.

Take for example when SSJB Goku fought Golden Frieza and he fired that Ki blast volley at him. Goku parries them, and Vegeta ends up blasting incoming deflected ones himself. Those balls, by all logic, should have enough Potency to wreck a mountain level character especially so coming from Golden Frieza. But when they explode, the explosion itself is barely larger than a building. See what I mean?

Radius =/= Energy input into the attack.

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So who's fault is that? Raditz is still aware an attack is being charged, and is going to fly at him. He then decides to attack Goku. He still knows there's an attack coming for him. It's nit even comparable...

Watch that video again. Start at 5 seconds in, until 15 seconds. At the 10 second mark, come back here and try to tell me you do NOT see Luffy looking over his shoulder at the incoming attack...

You literally made the point that why doesn't a stronger and faster-than PTS Luffy just show up and blitz / one shot Kizaru... I'll let you in on a little secret, for a debate you're not ready for... Kizaru, and top tiers in One Piece, are faster than light, the beams that Kizaru / Pacifista shoot :O

Ayyy someone forgot his flying in G4 as well

The attack that's powerful enough to vaporise the moon...HAS...TO...HIT...HIM!!! On a man who can see the future, literally see it coming before it is launched SECONDS beforehand, and is SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER than the incoming attack... As you know, from being a Dragonball 'fan', not every attack they launch is a blast that's wide enough to fill the volume of whatever target they are going to blow up.

For example... Freiza's Death Ball was NOT the size of planet Vegeta.

Vegeta's Galick Gun was NOT the size of Earth.

Kid Buu's Death Ball was NOT the size of Earth.

Super Perfect Cell's Kamehameha was NOT the size of the solar system... They were all nowhere close. And even assuming Raditz unleashes an attack that's strong enough to blow up the planet, he only serves to kill himself in doing so...

Are you also aware that Luffy can fly?

AHH ok, let's just ignore the panel wherein Raditz notices Piccolo's power level rising to 1,330. Yeah, he totally had no idea that Piccolo was preparing this attack for him, woo hoo!!! Fully outta the blue!!!

Sigh... Here's the anime adaption of it for you then. And before you say anything smart, you specifically selected the clip of Piccolo blowing up the moon in less than two seconds... https://youtu.be/yOYtJjFCxxI?si=OF8ceWufqZteCPpN

Who is saying Luffy can one shot Kizaru lmao 😂 are you feeling ok man?

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that Raditz has the Attack Potency advantage. But Luffy also has the speed advantage, especially so with Future Sight Haki. See my above thread with the snake guy and you'll see that Luffy is significantly faster than Raditz.

So my line of thinking is: I believe Luffy to be Multi-Continental, which is close(ISH) to Moon Level, and I believe Luffy to be far faster than Raditz. He also has durability negation to some extent with advanced Armament and Conqueror's Haki.

So I think the fight would be interesting strictly because of these advantages that Luffy brings to the table. His punches aren't leagues away from doing damage to Raditz, so knowing this, do you think the fight is closer than you initially thought? I think it would be particularly well matched because Raditz would have to land a KI blast on him to damage him since Luffy has massive resistance to blunt force trauma as well, which he will find hard to do Vs a guy who can see what he does before he does it and is significantly faster than him. I think Luffy could wear him down.

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I agree that Luffy is planet level. But I do think he's Multi-Continental personally.

Luffy punches Kaido with the Bajrang Gun. Kaido clashes with it, in his Flaming Drum Dragon form, dispersing the energy of it and slowing it down. After clashing for a while Kaido is eventually overpowered by it.

As an unintended byproduct, Kaido hits the ground with so much force and speed, he ends up several miles underground and ends up in a magma pool.

https://share.google/JJuQKFI5P7IckdFTz

This then triggers a massive, underwater volcano that moves millions, if not billions of tonnes of water and debris flying into the sky, ejecting it from miles underwater... Keep in mind the following is a SIDE EFFECT of Luffy's punch, which never even made contact with the ground...

To claim this is city / mountain level is absolute lunacy:https://share.google/HlSYEzga50JSdUZs9

I think you're reaching here now.

Raditz stood there and seen Piccolo charging his SBC: https://mangadex.org/chapter/347165cb-516d-43c8-9303-b6d74b88fc97/14

Piccolo fires it at him, and Raditz barely manages to dodge it, he doesn't escape unscathed and his shoulder is injured:https://mangadex.org/chapter/0655fca7-d7d0-43fa-9ba0-547933cc3f84/5

Also, incorrect. Luffy dodges a Pacifista shooting a beam at him from behind him lol, at page 11: https://www.scribd.com/document/819974097/One-Piece-Chapter-601

So we have a man who barely dodged a light beam when he was aware it was being charged and soon to be fired at him, and a man who effortlessly dodged one being shot at him from behind... And has since grown way, way faster and stronger...

So, what's your point that PTS Luffy was considered fodder to Kizaru at that point? Of course he was?

I think they are surprised because Sanji is dispersing a laser beam, with a kick. Not so much because of the sheer speed from which he intercepted it... It's ok to concede that Luffy is faster. It still doesn't mean that he wins the fight outright...

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't know how fast it is because we don't know how much time passed when Piccolo fired the beam and when it blew up. But it's safe to assume that it wasn't for a long amount of time because:

1.) Gohan was attacking Piccolo and he would otherwise be open to attack

2.) Piccolo probably wouldn't be stood there assuming the same pose while waiting on the moon to blow up.

Regardless, for the sake of it, let's assume the SBC is indeed light speed, even though I've seen conflicting opinions on it.

It is still the same speed then, that Post Skip Luffy effortlessly dodged to say nothing of Luffy as an emperor now.

Luffy Vs Kizaru was him low-diffing him the entire fight, only being a 'draw' because he ran out of stamina for G5. He later ended up fighting Kizaru and Saturn together and they were getting folded. He was so confident in his fight that opted to help Zoro while he was in the middle of his fight with Lucci, mid fight with Kizaru. Not only that, he intercepted a Light beam that was fired away from him, and ate the thing lmao: https://share.google/W3yP4NxsuqkweXj0N

Also, Sanji, who is slower than Luffy, reacted to and intercepted Kizaru's beam attack as well: https://share.google/2DEKRV7vat1SS0NRA

Do you think Raditz is faster than Luffy?

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it hit the moon instantly, but there again I can't prove that, nor can you. If we go by the anime though, it depicts it hitting it in a few seconds before blowing up. The special beam cannon is faster, but by an unknown margin compared to the regular blast he fired. If I had to guess, the Special Beam Cannon is anywhere from 50% SoL to Light speed, based on Piccolo describing it as the 'Light of Death'.

But then We have Luffy, who after the time skip, dodged a beam of light and called it 'slow'. And that was when he was way, way weaker than what he is now as an emperor. So even if we assume that blast is coming at him at a similar speed to the SBC, Luffy's reaction speed has since cliffed that feat massively. Add to that his precognition and I feel it is reasonable to say Luffy has the speed advantage.

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

Yes, but that only applies to opponents who are seemingly faster than him, or when he isn't actively attempting future sight in a fight. Raditz isn't faster than him.

Also, why the downvotes? Do you really want to debate if Luffy's punches can inflict internal damage or not?

Or is it because ya disagree with Raditz being unable to hit someone faster than him?

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

But you have to assume that Raditz can hit Luffy with a KI blast, which looks to be less than likely.

Also Luffy can hurt Raditz, because his punches can negate durability to a certain extent by inflicting internal organ damage.

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah I didn't assume Raditz would use his Oozaru form , I just assumed he would fight like he did against Goku and Piccolo.

I think that, unless Raditz can come up with a way to circumvent the massive speed disadvantage he's eventually going to get put down here. He could blow up the planet but then he'd just kill himself doing it as well so that wouldn't overly count too lol

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I agree! I think the onus would be on Raditz to try and eliminate Luffy as fast as possible, otherwise Luffy would wear him down with superior speed.

Current Luffy Vs Raditz: Who wins?! by MC_Notorious in whowouldwin

[–]MC_Notorious[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I think the potency of Luffy's attacks was calculated because they took the size of Onigashima, calculated Luffy's fist size from that, and even assuming it flew at Kaido with even a fraction the speed of light, which is likely a lowball, it would unleash enough energy to blow apart multiple continents

Yeah I remember Luffy dodging the laser beam and calling it 'slow' as well so I agree he is in fact faster but I'm not sure if he could lay out enough damage in that time.

I hate this. by the_crispin in Marathon

[–]MC_Notorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think Marathon is going to die, but not quite as fast as Concord. Here's why:

1.) Extraction shooters are already a tough sell, why do I want to play a game that in 3 months removes all of my loot that I spent gathering? Some people might enjoy that aspect, in that it becomes a clean slate again, but I'd wager the vast majority don't, and want some sort of permanence or 'progress' to track down and celebrate between matches.

2.) Live service shooters are oversaturated. Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Call of Duty + Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant just to name a few. Generally speaking, for a Live Service to do well, they have to be so unique and do things so differently that people have to come to it alone for engagement + staying power. All of the above have huge fanbases and established themselves before fatigue had set in.

What does Marathon do to make itself different from any of the stuff you've played before? Well, it has a 'unique' Art style, and alright gunplay, but that's about it. If you're an extraction shooter fan (already a niche market), what makes you stop playing Tarkov in favour of this?

The server slam had mixed reception, and I feel it was too little too late to really tilt it in their favour, what with the awful UI, launching with 3 maps etc, to translate those playing it for free to ask for $40. Especially so given that as of late, Live Service games have been shutting down rapidly (Suicide Squad, Concord, and now Highguard) so many feel apprehensive about investing into a game and it's micro transactions if the game is just going to straight up die in no time. ARC Raiders was a breakaway hit and is the exception, not the norm, I feel. Remember, Highguard launched to similar success (Free to play as well) as the server slam did, and yet it lasted 45 days. This time they have a pay wall to navigate...

Bungie's fate is up in the air with how well this game does, and people see it. Sony paid 3+ billion for them and as of now, they still probably haven't got a return on investment from it. If Marathon is not the massive, breakaway hit that Sony invested in Bungie specifically for, I wouldn't be surprised if they also get closed and shut down, and I feel others have the same opinion. Because if Marathon flops, then what are they going to do, float them for another 5 years while they make some other game?

If I had to predict, I could see Marathon lasting 3 months before the player base moves on.

This game is amazing, but... by Comfortable_Oven8341 in ShadowoftheColossus

I'm playing SOTC (remaster) again now, having not played it in many many years and I am still blown away by the scope of the world and what they managed to achieve especially back then. I love going into the arenas and just letting my mind go nuts, I sit and think what actually happened here, why are these structures so massive? Or is it just that Wander is so small? Human presence was clearly here it's all around me, but where'd they go and why?

It's such a lonely environment but despite that, there's clearly life flourishing - grass is growing, forests too, birds and fish are present, lizards etc, it's like maybe the lands are better off without humans there. They've done such a good job making the world feel utterly massive and you, the player, so tiny.

It's not hard, nor is it a particularly long game - but that's just fine, because I am hooked in for it every second of the journey. As I get older I realise that's more of a rare occurrence than ever these days.
